You state, "I am not saying it has to be big." Cool. That's good. Most folks don't feel up to taking on the big things. But that's just being human. Starting out small is best for most. Starting out, that's whats REALLY important. Old Chinese proverb ... The longest journey begins with the first step. So we make the world a better place by starting out small, in taking the first step. Whats the easiest 1st step any one can take? Simple. Start with self. You change self, make self better, you automatically make the world a better place. How to make self better? Simple again. Be tolerant, be honest, be accepting, be respectful, be the kind of person YOU would want to live next door to. Now the worlds a better place. And the folks around you? They have a good example to follow. Maybe that sets off a kind of chain reaction. Simple. But simple ought never be confused with ease. ;-) ~ Peace & Blessings ~

Doing many, simple little things can add up to big changes in the world. You could drink fair trade coffee, bike to school or work, adopt a vegetarian diet, turn off the tv, volunteer in your community for something you believe in, spend time with friends and family, buy less and live more, get involved with politics and make your voice heard, give to charity and do little acts of kindness every day. Live the examined life and act on your convictions. Have hope and spread it like a contagious disease.

I believe two changes that can make the biggest impact are everyone finding their talent(s) or gift(s) and utilizing it to help themselves and others is one change we can all do, and a bigger slightly harder one is allowing without prejudice for everyone to freely explore different avenues (as long as they harm none) for the purpose of finding their talents and gifts and by giving everyone equal opportunity to explore their options everyone will find a fit and function in society that makes them happy and whole which produces a much nicer place.

I have a suspicion that removing ourselves from yahoo answers would be a good start, prayer and meditation are very powerful tools but being of service to others probably makes the most sense to me.

I once heard someone say we can only make the world a better place one person at a time, start with yourself-others will soon follow! I don't even remember who it was that said this-but what a wise person she/he was. So I guess my answer to you is "start with yourself"!!
