great question. This is one of many reason why I do not follow religion, and as i have said it before religion is a blight onto society. People need to start to think for themselves and rely on themselves instead of depending on this imaginary person called god

Samson, No. True believers in gods often have gone to extremes. When a Comet recently passed us in Space there was a cult that committed suicide so their spirits could go with the comet! There have been many Phophets who have condemed the world and gained noteriety but at present, there is no known God who has done so. Now with the Jihidist, killing oneself in the act of killing non-believers is an acceptable form of behavior, and thats also partly why we have people in harms way in the East.

Unfortunately, I do think they'd do it. Why? Only cuz history and the Bible itself tells you that it's happened before! Look at the crusades, 9-11, Iraq (Bush actually admits to praying before he made the decision to go in, now, the question here is, did God tell him to do it?) There are several times in the bible when God tells someone to eradicate entire cities, and they do it!
Religion is flawed, not because of God, Himself (though that's up for debate), but because of it's human leadership.

History speaks of some of the greatest atrocities committed in the name of God. All of these events had one thing in common: a charismatic leader that followers saw as divine. But in reality, they were horribly flawed.

I disagree that non secular human beings sense insulted at the same time as atheists say, "i don't think in God." Its in reality at the same time as that straightforward statement is talked about by ability of, "and also you're a moron because you do." or words to that result, or at the same time as they declare to be in a roundabout way better because of their disbelief, that i think they attempt to insult me. at the same time as insulting me and my beliefs continues to be no longer sufficient to feed their personal ego and conceit, at the same time as they see that their barbs don't have any result on me, they frequently will then up the ante by ability of launching a chain of sharp personal attacks adverse to God himself. That used to make me offended, yet no longer any better for I got here to comprehend 2 issues. the first is that God would not desire me to look after Him. The time will come at the same time as he will take all under consideration for his or her moves. the 2d is that by ability of insulting God they are both admitting that they quite do believe He exists (although they might never admit it outright) or exhibiting that their idea tactics are so illogical that they quite imagine that some earnings will be gained by ability of insulting that which they "understand" does no longer exist.

GOD DOESN'T FORCE, so He wouldn't ask His followers to do anything that He himself wouldn't do.
"I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed my live." Deuteronomy 30:19 Clearly, God gives us a choice. It's up to us.

because he would have to wipe out sinners. Many people sadly believe and listen to voices in their heads that they believe to be god.
