Ok, so i have a pretty messed up family life, and im pretty messed up myself, and my mom wanted to get one for me when i was young but my dad said no, finally my mom managed to sneak me (literally) to a doctor to see if i was depressed, and luckily enough i am. so im going to see a psychologist, and im kind of nervous, because its hard for me to talk about my life, not because im afraid of letting others know, but because it makes me realize how horrible it really is and i like to block it out, so naturally i break down and cry, and i don't like to seem very vulnerable while crying. so what do i do?

How much of ability is talent versus practice?
According to this article: http://scienceblogs.com/cortex/2006/08/talent_and_practice.php
Genetic talent has little or nothing to do with expert ability. Do you believe that?
And also, is reaction time something that can be trained, or does it require inate ability? Or does it require early training to acquire, and just can't be acquired later in life?

I am 15 and I hate the idea of getting drunk and taking drugs, I really don't see the point. I am also terrified of the thought of people throwing up.
The problem is everyone in my year seems obsessed with that.
How do I go through my teenage years not being a loser, but avoiding all that?
I have loads of friends but I dont really want to go to all those parties.

im 30 with borderline personality disorder, ive never been employed, dropped out of high school through bullying, never made friends, never been in a relationship, never gained qualifications or had any nice times in life.
i live alone in a one bedroom flat.
i feel like im being denied what others have..a good job..a direction..fullfillment..a pretty girlfriend..security..happiness.

i want all those things, ive never had but most of all i want to leave the uk.....move abroad...far away outside europe.....a fresh start...a new beggining.
i want to live in a small little desert town with few populace...the odd pepsi machine outside the dimly lit saloons....a loving partner...a secure home...couple of friends....a good job.
these are my dreams...my desires.. my hopes..my needs...
but paranoia is making me think other people are controlling my life...stopping me from achieving those things.

all my internet friends 1 or 2 have rejected me, im lonely, no direction

Which are you, and which is it better to be? At heart I am a leader, but no one follows me; I'm a lonesome leader. When I am the follower I don't get any respect and I don't like following people. I want to have my own opinions and do what I want, but is that good even when people don't follow?

What drives a human being to deem a little baby creature that is not even of our species "cute?"

Where does it come from and what are the practical uses of this "cute."

Is it something that is instinctual? Or something that comes from greater human faculties?

Why are some human beings that have reached adulthood also considered "cute" by some?

I keep having Deja Vu's ALL THE TIME!!

One example . . .
A friend of mine passed away with cancer a while ago and me and friends at school were talking obviously we were upset because it was the day we found out. But I had a deja-vu . . . like a memory of that exact conversation happening before.

Another example is a conversation me and my friend had about my grandmother passing away ??

It keeps happening . . . do you think it means something?

I don't really understand domestic abuse that well but understand that you lose complete confidence in yourself and are scared to leave. what i am wondering is does anyone out there who has had an abusive partner blame themselves for choosing these partners? What about when you have children do you feel guilty that you brought children into a violent environment or are almost in denial when the situation is going on where you believe things will get better?

What Marshall Sylver Turning Point Seminar has done for me....
I have tickets if you want to message me...

If you were ever curious about looking into seminars that can motivate and change your life, this one is the one to do!
I say this as a family man who struggled for years with depression, questions about faith, family, life and even finances. I say this as a guy who spent years in therapy (who hasn't?) or in codependent relationships and all the other self deprecating processes out there.

Am I completely whole? No, life my friends is a process. It's all one big process... but I will tell you this....This guy accelerated my growth exponentially in so many aspects of my life. I am no longer pinching myself that it is real!

The Turning Point is exactly that!

Our current goals and dreams have been realized and we are moving forward and enjoying life more than ever!:
-A career that I was getting out of totally turned itself around for me, rather, I got new perspectives on it and am not changing careers anytime soon. ;) I am however going ahead with the new plans and continuing our own home business! ;)
-My own therapist has basically given me the all clear after 3 years.... I am "on call" if I feel like I need a session. (and trust me its nice not to be paying out every week and feeling like you are not getting anywhere)
-I have more time it seems even though I am busier than ever?! Both my wife and I are now involved in community where we really were home bodies and on the verge of divorce. Our time together as a family has blossomed. Our private life has intensified.
- My wife is an artist who after 20 years had only a couple of shows, now she has so many shows going that she is behind in production and she is now selling!!!!
-I am able to spend way more time with my son than I ever dreamed, I get to be a Father!
-My wife's own personal and business contacts have exploded. Additionally, her own personal growth because of this has been tremendous! Talk about a self esteem makeover!
-We always wanted to "do unto others"; and its now happening, I am sharing and mentoring culinary students; my wife is helping other artists with their businesses, and is a cub scout leader assistant; together we are helping an elderly neighbor keep her home from going into foreclosure.
-Business associates, clients, and friends are giving us gifts just for being...us!

THIS IS NOT A MAGIC BULLET!!!!!! But it is an awesome, FUN tool to help you on your way, keep you on track, inspire you to do MORE.... Of what ever it is you WANT to do, or perhaps even some things you never thought of doing ;)

And How Cool Is THAT!

I have tickets, lets get together and spread the wealth!

I wish the answerer to assume a "normal looking" not obese or anorexic human male. The answers of money and social status are obvious. What is beyond these two criteria?

Is it somehow likely or even possible that one day in the distant future, we will be co-existing or dare I say, 'governed' by intellectualy superior, reasoning, thinking emotive machines ? cybernetic organisms ?

Basicly asking whether or not A.I can reach a stage where it becomes 'alert' and begins to play havoc with everything mankind has innovated since the copper wire conductor.

Go ahead and accuse me of watching too many sci fi movies, thats not what we're really here to discuss. my question centers around the very eerie thought of machines , getting SO smart that they one day 'wake up' and begin to challenge us on earth, god forbid even enslave or terminate us. :-|

I would love to hear from scholars in this field, who can give me some thought from ground up on the potential of such an event happening. Any thoughts from anybody interested in A.I, robots, cyborgs, angry toasters and 'static kitchen appliances' feel free to answer :-|
