Most fear is based on lack of knowledge. When knowledge is let in, fear goes out. People would not fear the "unknown" if it became the "known and understood".
I have said - and written - many times that the word "paranormal" should be replaced with the word "futurenormal". The so-called "unknown", "paranormal", "metaphysical" of todasy is the science of tomorrow.
Imagine addressing a group of the greatest medical minds of the 13th or 14th century and trying to tell them the great plague that they were fighting was caused by tiny, invisible creatures that float through the air! You would have been laughed out of the building or hauled out and burned at the stake. Airborne germs ans viruses were unknown to them, but are well known to us!
Today's mysteries will be the well-known scientific facts of tomorrow, but few people can accept that viewpoint. Even science, itself, is so arrogant it believes that if it doesn't ALREADY know all about it, then it can't exist. HOW ABSURD! This is the same kind of thinking that wanted to close down the US Patent Office in the early 1800s because "everything that could be invented already has". (How many NEW ionventions have appeared since the early 1800s? - Probably THOUSANDS!)
As to how this could help us - the possibilities are unlimited!
If we understood the human energy field, we could work with it to cure illnesses and elevate just about every aspect of the human condition in life.
If those who harm others KNEW what was waiting for them after their own deaths, there would be an INSTANT end to "man's inhumanity to man"! Those who have gone through the classic "Near Death Experience" (or have been regressed through a past life and into a past death) UNANIMOUSLY report that we review the life we have just left, and in the course of that review, we experience EVERY feeling - emotional or physical - that we caused for or to ANYONE else during that immediate past life. If everyone KNEW they would have to face - from their victim's viewpoint - EVERY hurt they ever caused, do you think people would still go around hurting eachother?
"Is there anything to ge gained?" - you ask?
An end to man's inhumanity to man.
No more abuse of spouses and children.
Everyone being honest and ethical in their dealings with others.
Healing diseases that ruin lives now.
There is EVERYTHING to be gained!!!!

An ugly side effect is someone finding the one relative they really didn't to get in touch with. Say for instance an evil mother-in-law or a warped step-father! Yeeeeeeekkkkkkk.......

The main benefit of paranormal research is that it correctly identifies the idiots in our society who actually believe in that rubbish.
