This is someone I know. She is a lady her very late 50's .

When she is at home, all she does for her free time is watch QVC or Home Shopping Network.

And everyday she has the UPS man deliver another package of crap she bought off of there.

Anybody know anybody else like this?

what would you think is wrong with her?

The government in New Zealand give the Maori special treatments like benefits, health services, special entry for only pacific and maori students, and the list continues on, from the psych lecture today, maori are "traumatised" by the adapting to a different culture,'Acculturation'-which gives them acculturation stress-that results in negative mental stress.I just cant help but only see it as excuses for their bad behaviour. They cry out for injustice, prejudice and racism, but still ask for special treatment!Special treatment will only isolate them from everyone else who's also trying very hard to make a living!Cant anyone see the cycle will never break unless the NZ govt treat everyone equally!Hostility towards them will never end, the elder Maori will only teach their children nothing but give reasons to make excuses,no wonder the Maori are decreasing in numbers, we shouldnt treat them so well so that they can learn to stand up themselves so they can be good role models for their nxt gen

Crime Scene: In a condominium unit, a dead man with a gun in one of his hands and a recorder on the other. A gunshot through his head. No sign of violence. The detective in charge took the recorder and played it. "I'm tired of my life, I wanna die." *gunshot* the detective asked the dead man's roomate. "Is this his voice?" He replied, "Yes" the detective said "We must find the murderer" How did the detective know it was murder and not a suicide?"

25 years ago, adhd was unheard of. And yet now, every 4th child is diagnosed with it.

Is it really a mental issue or is it a parental issue?

Seems like a cop out to just claim children are adhd, and thats why they act up.

I understand SOME children have actual chemical imbalances in their brain, but 1 in 4?

All in the last 25 years? seems fishy to me.

and think I'm missing some of the real life. I just like to live in books adventures, romances, terrors, and you know.. beautiful simple worlds. I'm socially challenged. What can I actually do to get in contact with people? Whenever someone's telling me something I get distracted and start wondering: what if that flower..??, and people get annoyed because I'm not listeing to their story. But it's all just so.. blunt.. too normal.
I don't fit in, and people think me cynical.
Am I really? What's wrong with me?.

I believe there is a ghost or something in my house. Its gotten to the point that i wont go to the basement b/c i feel like something is staring at me. I had a dream that a little girl was raped and killed by a man in our basement. I'm not sure if that was just my mind or what. people around me think i''m going crazy just because i've told them that i think theres something in my house, but i told my boyfriend about it and he said that hes felt it too. i'm a big believer in anything supernatural, and now that i'm talking about it to people i have the feeling that what ever is down there is getting mad at me for talking about it. i'm just not sure what to do. i had bad feelings about the place when we first moved in and now its just getting worse. i'm ready to just leave...i dont know what to do anymore...i need some help here!

Being delusional (in other words, not being able to see the real world as it is, living in the world of fantasies) is a symptom of being sick. Many religious people believe in things like angels, Armageddon, devil, Noah's Arc, etc. Isn't it logical to conclude that they are sick?

I'm trying to come up with a topic for my psychology paper. I can think of certain topics easily (ex: Schizophrenia, Bipolar Disorder, Sexuality, Social Behavior, Eating Disorders, etc) but the problem i need something more specific.

Schizophrenia...what about schizophrenia?
Eating Disorders....what about eating disorders?
Sexuality, or maybe even sexuality and adolesence but what about sexuality and adolesnce??

For instance I heard of someone writing about Deja Vu: illusion vs. reality. Not necassarily a topic I would touch but it's specific.
Thats where I hit the wall, if anybody has any SPECIFIC topics or ideas i would greatly appreciate it.
