First of all...pardon my spelling! I am a female science student. I see few differences between men and women(other than physical!!). I am unfamilliar with this 'emotionalism' and 'softness' men see when they think of a woman. I will tell you right now that I have horrible social skills, and prefer to conduct laboratory experiments. It really bothers me when people are surprised that I am not at all interested in the domestic life. I have absoluetly no interest in children or marriage. Growing up, I was considered a 'nerd'...you know awkward, intellectual and quiet. Here's what I think.....the average person, one without a university degree, usually fits into the social conventions placed upon males and females. I have also noticed that these people have difficulty with 'outside of the box' thinking. Another thing....you cannot dictate that 3 billion people are nurturing, weak, and emotional, and the other 3 billion are logical, assertive, and dominant. Feedback please!!!

Women are just as smart as men-maybe even smarter and more grounded. Why do they over-power us? Say there were only ten people left on this planet- 9 are men, 1 is a women. There would only be about 1 baby from each male every 8 years. But if the tables were turned and there were 9 women and 1 man, there would be about 9 babies every year and the poulation would increase much faster. So in truth- the men can't survive without us! Without us- who would feed them and take care of 'their' children! Who takes all the pain and pressure of keeping this poulation alive?!? Ladies I want to hear your comments on this! We are much better than them- but treated worse with LESS rights!!!!

I see a lot of posts with women saying that they're completely against feminism because it destroyed the family unit, etc. Now, I was just wondering do you vote? And, men who are against feminism does your wife or girlfriend or mother vote?

How can you be completely against feminism if you vote? Without feminism you wouldn't be able to vote.

and now people are brainwashed to treat natural mens' preference for young women as sick perversion, pedophilia etc?

can you deconstruct this taboo looking deep inside you and aksing yourself if this unnatural situation sanctioned by law and culture makes people really happier and why we did not need that for ages before?

Whenever I come over to the women's studies category, it is inundated with posts from men who apparantly have poor opinions of women and post horrible and offensive questions to and regarding women. Any one know why? And extra credit if you can state what type of questions should be in women's studies.

The feminist movement has had its greatest effect on the US and UK, (or the western world). Though feminism has tried, without rest, to influence the remaining world, it has done so to a much lesser effect. Asia, the middle-east, and the Hispanic culture, are still quite machismo.

Even some of these nations that have had female leaders have only had so for political correctness, and for the sake of experience. If one visits these same countries, they are still very masculine. Most of these nations are still 'old-fashioned'. They are still family oriented. They are still very religious. Their cultures of old are still dominant. The man still earns the money. The women are still considered the nurturers, and home-keepers. Much of this was shown durring the World Cup. It was still the men being cheered by men and women.

That being said, is immigration restoring the US's & UK's masculinity? How will immigration effect feminism in the near and distant future?

Because of their abortion practices, China's male population is steadily growing while her female population is steadily decreasing, (in ratio, at least). It is expected, within 20 years, that China's male to female ratio will be about 65/35, give or take. As China's male ratio increases, experts, logically, expect China's militant boldness, confidence, and strength to increase.

Simultaneously, the US and UK are steadily becoming effeminate. Much due to their respective "feminist movements". Both nations, for the last 4 decades, have attempted to demasculinize men. Attempting to remove the natural aggresion in men. Assuming, this would improve society.

However, without the US and UK noticing, they both may be giving China a greater advantage. China can match both in technology. Yet, soon enough, will crush both in masculine, military power. China would destroy both in close-range combat. By numbers, and strength.

Would an effeminate US and UK be able to overcome a masculine China?

I know they are quite beautiful and very sexy. But they mentioned that their act is "empowering" to women. And the implication was to the sexiness of the act. Now I am all for women being comfortable with their bodies and learning grace and confidence. BUT come on... women fighting on the front lines is empowering... women on the cutting edge of science are empowering... all this long legged, tight clothed, dance acts are entertaining but hardly the defintion of empowering.

This obviously didn't occur to me just this morning but this statement by them I think is symptomatic of a larger social state of mind where women are buying into the objectification (is that a word) of their own bodies and consider it empowering. (Like a porn starlet is comfortable with her body, enough to show it of (and no I am not saying that the Pussycat Dolls are pornstars just that they also capitalize on their bodies)).

What do you folks think?

I'm bringing this up because of issues in the PGA/LPGA and other sporting venues. It's great the Michelle Wie wants to qualify and play in a Men's event, but what would happen if a guy wanted to try and qualify for women's event? Also too - given the women's lib movement, has it become more equal or as the balance tipped to the women's side of power?
