as the saying goes. Do you disagree or agree? Please give reasons to buttress your stance. If you educate two women in a large community what will be the impact of that act on the community?

I don't think educating women in particular "educates a nation". I think that a society is a body and individuals are the cells--all individuals. So any educated person can create a ripple effect in the community.

The idea behind that statement, I think, is that women tend to be their childrens' first teachers, as mothers. So an educated mother can help her children with homework, teach them their numbers early, read to them, etc.

I think that there should be fairness in education, period, and that everyone should have a chance to make a contribution to their community.

I think that the reason why this quote's subject is a woman is because of the generally consensus that the woman is foundation of the home which encompasses educating the people in her home/community. Most educators are women as well and our nation's universities and colleges also have higher enrollment of women to men (so I think we are on our way).

I agree that educating women is important to educating a nation just because, simply put, most educators are women (and people tend to be more comfortable with women than men because women are considered to be more nurturing) and so in order to bring up our nation, we need more educated women out there to educate others. I also believe that educating men is just as important and they can be just as effective.

As far as those two women in that large community, they have a lot of work to do but as with anybody, if a person really wants to make a difference, all they have to do is put a whole hearted effort into it.

If you educate two women in a large community, you will have two women in a sea of idiots. Women can only go as far as men, that is to say, everyone is equal in capacity. The key is not to educate two women, but to educate everyone, male or female. Sadly, stupid people are a majority (you can tell by some of the other questions I've answered lately) but education of women will not ease this. The answer is only in equality in all things.

Well, this is a statement that assumes a knowledge of the topic. Men have always been educated. Women, however, have not. Therefore, educating women would complete the education of the whole population. Thus educating the nation.

I totally agree with this statement. The woman is the heart of a home. As such, if she is educated she then passes this on to her children, who in turn then go into the world with this great gift. And this gift isn't just from the head, but from the heart as well. A woman is able to positively change her community and the world by being a true mother to her children.
