Women are just as smart as men-maybe even smarter and more grounded. Why do they over-power us? Say there were only ten people left on this planet- 9 are men, 1 is a women. There would only be about 1 baby from each male every 8 years. But if the tables were turned and there were 9 women and 1 man, there would be about 9 babies every year and the poulation would increase much faster. So in truth- the men can't survive without us! Without us- who would feed them and take care of 'their' children! Who takes all the pain and pressure of keeping this poulation alive?!? Ladies I want to hear your comments on this! We are much better than them- but treated worse with LESS rights!!!!

Thank you for all the good arguments. But I noticed in one answer that my line about us having less rights was pointed out. In the 80's Congress was presesented with a bill that GUARENTEED women with the exact same rights as the men. That bill was never passed. So technically, men have more rights than us.

Statistics are junk! It's because of society that we think we can't do anything when yes we can!!!

Strength, brute strength. All things strong will dominate all things weaker. This breeds slavery, wars and all things on planet earth. Unless you add 1 rare ingredient, maturity. Maturity will make a man step back and admit someone else is better suited to rule and not be ashamed. I would love to live in a society dominated by caring nurturing women.

It's a give and take. Truth be told (I am speaking from my age group of 42), there is a huge difference between men and women. Most males are much more physcially capable of survival than women. Men build bridges, cities, etc. Women do to, but even being a woman today in 2006, not sure I would feel as secure in 100 story building I knew was built by ladies only. Sorry! Blast me if you would like. However, the love, children, loss and thriving of women is uncompromising. Women are survivors and are brilliant. Women play major roles througout industries across the country and elsewhere. We need each other to survive. We do not want to over populate either.

Wow, shut up!! Men and women both have equal brain potential. Think about nature. in MOST(not all) species the female is the one who takes care and nurses the offspring. Also, "who would feed them''? Throughout history males have been the ones feeding the women. In truth, men are more aggressive than women and have more of a drive to overcome and overpower the next person no matter if they are male or female and thats why men overpower women. Some day men and women will probably be equal in everyway. And in truth, women as a whole can't survive without men because without men there would be no reproduction to make more females

In my own beliefs this society is powered by men due to physical power. In all actuality the women would be the dominating force of the race if men would let them be. It doesn't matter who's smart and who's not. It all comes down to the way we look at things. If you take a look at nature there are species out there that have dominant women of their kind. I'm no science guy but just to point out a few, Bees they all do for the queen because she is the ruler so to speak. Ants I think are the same way. Prey mantis devour the male after the mating ritual. It just goes to show that the most basic of species live in this format. Think about it the bearer of the offspring wasn't the strongest wouldn't the race die out? No smart women= extinction.
Now lets talk about the man, this society is run by the rich and popular. Not the smartest as we've seen. We don't really sit back and think of what will happen when we push the ball down the hill. We just push it and then that's how we find out what happens. I think men are merely here to help the reproduction of ones species and we are made to be strong to help protect the female. Men are programed to reproduce and that's why we are so horny all the time. And we are made to start at a young age while women take longer to mature.
Unfortunately men have strong armed the women from the begining of our time. And thats why we are the way we are.
Its unfortunate that weve ended up this way. I am in no way saying that us men suck, but if there was more of a polite way to say it I would.

Equality is one of the things the women's liberation movement was all about, and it worked! I'm curious what rights you believe men have over women. Because I don't see any. Women today have high payed executive jobs in large companies, they are major shareholders in stocks and bonds. Women hold political power in government. Some (many) even have their own television shows. Men would indeed survive without women, however the population numbers would drop. Women AND Men both take care of children and babies (formula), as women are not the only ones who toil to keep the population alive.

You are looking at this scenario from a better/worse perspective. Women are no more intelligent than men. They have a different perspective. Men are just as capable of feeding themselves and raising children as women are, they just pursue it differently.

The reason men overpower women in every culture is because men are physically able to overpower women. With the rare exception, if you were to place a man and a woman in a physical confrontation, the man would always be the victor due to the greater physical capacities. It is the basis of this type of confrontation the enables men to dominate the women around them.

Because men need to dominate something that they feel is weaker and dumber than they are to feel like a man. They are more emotional and insecure. They constantly need someone to tell them how 'great' they are. They need to be needed, so they set up this system where the woman has to rely on them.

I'll tell you right now, at my school the top medical student has been a woman for the past 5 years, as well as science. One of the best engineers in the country is a woman. I really don't understand why they claim women are less logical and more emotional. It's a bunch of crap.

Everything should be based on an individual's talents...not the generalization of 3 billion people.

I think of feminism as sort of a funny joke. It's hilarious whenever women get all defensive about their abilities and say they are stronger than men. Throughout history men have been the warriors. The leaders of ancient civilizations were usually the greatest fighters. Women, being not as physically strong, didn't fight in the army, thereby ensuring that they didn't rule (except for the amazons and Xena Warrior Princess). In modern days, women have the advantages over men. They have all the rights of any other citizen; plus, women aren't put into the draft.

In academics, trends show that men definitely dominate in math, and that higher percentages of college students are men than women. Women have advantages in that affirmative action works for them and many times women with similar or lesser skills than men are chosen for jobs and admitted into universities.

Although, statistics also show that women have slightly higher or equal test scores to men in reading and writing.

Seems like you're going to have to prove that one existed before you can answer this question, see excerpt below: Though many modern anthropologists and sociologists assert that there are no known examples of human matriarchies from any point in history, [2][3][4][5][6][7] there is no consensus about this question. Encyclopædia Britannica lists matriarchy as a "hypothetical social system".[8], yet some examples of matrifocal societies are listed in "Existing matrifocal societies" section of this article. The Britannica article goes on to note, "The view of matriarchy as constituting a stage of cultural development is now generally discredited. Furthermore, the consensus among modern anthropologists and sociologists is that a strictly matriarchal society never existed."[9] For more information see the appendix Patriarchies in dispute

treated worse with less rights?! okay...calm down there...it is this way because thats how it was historically. things are slowly changing. you cant survive without us either, so that argument is moot! with the semen, the egg isnt fertilized. and what do you mean more grounded? women are more emotional and think with emotions rather than logic, if that's what you mean. and i was being very general there, not all women are like that or are like that all of the time! but you are right, women are smart, and a lot of htem are smarter than me. but guess what, id feed myself if women arent around. the cavemen did it, so will i. how do you think women got protein in caveman days?! the men went out and killed them something to eat. thats when it started, and its been perpetuated throughout history ever since.

There are a number of factors. One I look at is the paradigm shift that occured about 2500 BC when cultures gradually shifted their awareness and spirituality from a cooperative/female oriented/non-Monotheistic society to a Monotheistic, dominance paradigm where the deity was perceived as Male. The female power of reproduction and nurturing was both feared and held in awe. Gradually the role of the female was debased and her nurturing and powerful sexuality was degraded. Maybe women took part in this gradual shift themselves, giving up some dominance for protection and food.
