Don't we already do that with every other holiday except Thanksgiving and Christmas? Seriously, we always have President's Day "Observed" (as well as Columbus, MLK, etc). I'll still celebrate on the 4th, but who really cares? It makes sense for the President to be at some of the festivities. Sounds like just another excuse to complain about him to me....

Wait, you are saying that while the 4th next year is on a wednesday, he wants to keep it on a tuesday so he does not miss it?? Ok, that is the stupidest thing I have ever heard. I am still celebrating on the 4th like a normal person would.

If that's true, lucky for us it takes an act of congress to make it happen, and we all know how hard that is.

They should just put in on the first Monday in July, like so many other holidays. The country was not actually "born" on that day anyway, it took years to get to the complete realization. It's kind of silly to choose one, mostly arbitrary, day.

No. You don't celebrate America's birthday on a different day. It's like our town was going to show the fireworks the daye before because people had to work the next day. We don't move Christmas because people have to work the next day. We don't need to move other holidays around.

What? Yes, I am sure a flaming Republican such as W would try that. After all, he tried to ban flag burning so he clearly hates American traditions, why not move it to July 3rd? Or maybe he was going to put in a July 32nd to move it up on the calendar!

Sarcasm, your friend and mine.

I haven't heard this. In my opinion, as long as we still can celebrate it, what difference does 24 hours make in the grand scheme of things?
