I think its weird because you will find alot of men who want to do things like women and women who wants to do things like men. Thats why they should be able to do both.

The difference is that a woman who wants to play a PGA event essentially thinks she's too good for the LPGA, while a man who wants to play an LPGA event thinks he's not good enough for the PGA. A man wanting to play an LPGA event is like a baseball player wanting to play in the minor leagues. Who dreams small?
Seriously, the women who want to play in PGA events aren't trying to break a barrier; they're trying to test themselves against stronger competition. Which is to say nothing about men and women except that the best male golfers in the world are better than the best female golfers, no more or less.
As for the rest of the question, American society at least -- I can't speak much for the rest of the world -- is still sorting through all the issues, but there does seem to be more equality and freedom than there used to be, so at least there has been progress.

In regard to the PGA questions. I think it should just be a strict rule like Miss America has to be a female. Men play the men's circuit of the sport, and women play the women's circuit of the sport. Sure they could do a special tournament to see who is tops once a year, but good grief! Why does everyone think that every barrier must be broken. We can't all be the same, we would not be able to tell each other apart.

There is an unbalance of power, towards the women. Think about this: when potential firefighters are drafted, quite often they will lower the standard ridicously low for the women, yet sometimes they still have to tape these events, for example a woman who doesn't have the strength to lift up a ladder, and then shows women's lib the list, pointing out that that woman's name is on it. I don't agree with this; yes, women should not be left out on anything, but they should be able to reach the same STANDARDS as men. If they can make it with the guys, then they deserve it. Yet to lower standards to let them in, just to be 'equal'? That's wrong.
I've said in another Q&A that females get away with a lot more than males. They can slap lawsuits on, crack jokes about and put down the opposite gender, yet when a man tries to get help because his girlfriend abuses him, he's ignored. Women can get away with a lot more than men.
I am not saying let's go back to the way it was, with men towering over women. I want a female prime minister again, and traditional roles to be shaken up, but I don't want either gender - or any group - to be the underdog. It's the same with blacks and whites, with blacks getting away with a lot more than whites, and soon we'll also have that with the gays and lesbians vs hetrosexuals. I agree for equality, and that the bottom should fight its way up, but not to push the other down while doing that.

My impression is they say there's equality between men and women. They make these impression to get political respect but it's obvious women are not given equal rights.
Though they are some points I think favors women and those that take advantage are the women I feel should be given nothing.
A bus driver in Italy got a divorce from his wife. She was so inhuman that she didn't let her husband know she wanted a divorce. He got home and found his wife and the police waiting for him to take his property out of the house. Now he sleeps in the bus after working and eats with the homeless because all his wages are to be used to pay for the house mortgage and maintain his ex wife. That's no WOMAN RIGHT. She's just one of lots who live pleasantly under other people's shadow.

hi. i think half of this answer is down to diferences in the physical side of gender. men are usually more masculine and therefore in sporting events usually out perform women. this is part of evolution. however emotionally and socially. women are much superior. men dont have the social or emotional skills women do. were more evolutionally "programmed" for conflicts with eachother.
theres always exceptions to the rule but genrally i find the above applicable.
im not sure about the sporting events you mention however if this lady has out performed the female events i belive she should be allowed to attempt to qualify fo mens events.. she must perform as the men do though. same rules ect.

Equality will never be achieved, unless the society as a whole makes effort to achieve it.
Man and Woman are equal but not identicle. For a society to function properly is when its ok for the woman to stay at home and raise the kids, when its ok for the woman to cover her body and dress modestly and be respected.
When the society becomes more family oriented, moral and respectable.
I am a woman and I don't see the point in this woman wanting to be in a mans event especially when there are the same sports events made for women. Segregation doesn't equal Oppression to me it equals Respect.

i am sujata acharya, have studied law in india and have three master degree of law. i do believe that now a days woman is an equal like man, definitely she is as equal as in intelligent level but when the matter comes for the physical work, she is always behind the man, god creates her as a very soft person in every aspect, not only for the hard work but even by hart or in emotion factor and as per my view in softness or in emotion she is more then man, she should never try to be a man because she is more then man, when the time come she is having capacity of taking the trustworthiness of both parents.now matter is like sports so both are equal any one can take part with any body nothing problem, but it is issue of men that they don't feel good if woman comes in their fields, they want her to put always under them, but i think there is no problem if man and woman have integrity of every field, he can take part of the woman's events, if he has qualification for the woman events, i thinks there should have no difficulty.

I don't really beleive that we can ever see equality between the sexes for one everybody including those striving for equality have grown accustomed to the idea that women cannot be as equal as men but gradually close the gap. Of coiurse there will be symbolic events in sports and other areas where there will be semblances of equality but woul dnot mean much in the greater scheme of things.

This is where I differ from the extreme feminists. Men should be able to do what women do. Women are built physically different, so we need to be strong and work if we want to overcome that difference, and then, we can do anything a man can do.
I mean, really. If my fiance came up to me wearing a dress, he should be able to do that!
I think feminists need to pipe down and take into consideration that women are physically weaker than men. That is how we are. We can strengthen ourselves, and stop being whiny little babies and using our femininity to not have to work and get a guaranteed job. Sheesh.

Women certainly have most of the power now in the workplace, i call it petticoat power and yeah it's cool. But the tennis association is a little antiquated, hope they can catch up with the modern world and give those lovely girl tennis players equal pay, yep! ps those tennis skirts and shorts are fab ha ha
