Okay, so double-standards exist, and we all know that. Most of us are upset about it and wish that they were eliminated.

But who is most guilty of allowing these to persist? Men or women?

For instance, most will say a double-standard exists with regards to virginity and promiscuity (that it's more socially acceptable if men sleep around than if women sleep around). But who is more responsible for this acceptance? Some might say men, but I would guess that some women are just as guilty as accusing others as promiscuous even if she's had sex only once.

Your thoughts? Which stereotypes and double-standards are perpetuated by which gender, or are they both responsible?

Just before I say anything, I am very critical of relationships sometimes and have been one to be happy with my independence. However, my current relationship is probably the best one I've been in yet that should not go out to say that because of it I've changed my thoughts extravagantly, rather that I have loosened up. Anyways so the past five days? my boyfriend has been appearing in every single dream I've had, and while they are not always centered around him, he's always been there with me. I'm around him almost everyday and I guess it shouldn't be too weird that he appears there as well, but wouldn't that apply to my little brother and mother as well? He also said that he had a dream where his family's psychic approved our relationship. Never has someone appeared in my dreams like this or consecutively for that matter. Do you think it's because a desire influence or that these dreams might actually be trying to tell us something?

Just take a few moments to think about this before you answer.

Would you want people to tell you that your place is in the home, barefoot and pregnant? Would you be "o.k." with having other people and/or the government having control over your body? Would you be satisfied with being seen as overly-emotional and incapable then of being a good leader? Would you appreciate the negative attitudes you see in this forum about your gender? Would you be appreciative for having to fight for your equality? Would prejudice or discrimination be something you could live with?

I'm not really asking for a diagnosis, but just an opinion on if the symptoms can be. We all were teased and only like to have a core group of friends. People would think we're the life of the party type people when they know us, but none of us would be because we have to force ourselves to be that social. I personally can't look people in the eye unless I force myself to and even then I keep looking off to the side of them. I read something about empathy though. We are all ever empathetic I believe. We also have always had very high verbal skills and not good math skills. My Mom and daughter have sleeping issues. My Mom and I have sound issues. I really really bothers me to hear noises. My uncle has all of this as well and my son is showing signs. Although the people I've mentioned aren't formal artists, we all are very creative people. So I'm curious if I've mentioned things that make it seem like it's possible or does the empathy thing totally make us not. Are there anything else I might not have mentioned that would give me a clue? Also, how is one tested for this? Just go to the doctor and say what do you think?

It's a bad feeling. A sorrowful feeling, like I did something wrong. I don't like this feeling. It's a mixture of anger, sorrow, sadness, tired, yet....confused....I don't know. Maybe I'm just thinking too much at the moment. My face is >:|.

Anyone else get weird feelings they can't explain?

As a PR director of a non-profit organization i always look at the image of different social justice causes. The feminist have allowed themselves to carry the worst image of all. I don't think this is because they advocate some highly unpopular ideas. I think it is because they just don't know how to correctly go about getting what they want. So many of their most visible efforts do more to hurt their cause than help it in anyway. Am I the only one who sees this? Or maybe I am somehow mistaken in my observations? Let me know what you think...

one of my friends freaks out and starts panicking when shes under stress/pressure/has no control of a situation. She'll even start crying when things arent going her way e.g. once we drove to someone's house in the suburbs and we got lost and could not find our way to the highway for a good hour (even tho we stopped a few times @ gas stations to ask for directions)and after panicking she stopped in the middle of the street (intersection) (she was driving) and put her head out the window and started screaming for help and waving her arms to try to get someone to stop and help us. she was hysterical and made it seem like we're in a life-death situation. after that she never apologized or explained herself, she just said she was "scared". (it was the suburbs and there was no sign of danger anywhere). another time she started crying cuz she thought she'd fail a math test (even tho she always gets A's) even tho she studied all day. and yest. she started panicking cuz she had a report due

...where I wake up as a woman. It's an odd dream, because in it I have relationships much like a real woman. I have my friends and sisters that I shop with, have girl-talk with, trade beauty secrets and advice about men, etc.

I'm totally feminine in the dream, an exact opposite of what I am as a man. I'me even attracted to men in the dream and have a male friend that I want to be more involved with. It's totally wierd.

I wake up from the dream aroused, too...

What do you make of it?

Would any of you care to interpret this painting I finished two nights ago? I painted the damn thing and am still not sure what I was trying to say with this work. Perhaps your outside perspective will be more impartial?

Do you consider the overall message positive, hopeful or more negative. Do you see the noose, the lit candle and/or angel as being metaphorical images?

My husband had an abusive childhood which lead to drugs than to prison. All his life he has given things up if anything emotional is asked of him. He would rather walk away than fight for it. I have always tried to be very understanding. But now I need him emotionally and he wont respond to me. We have a major problem in our marriage and rather than tell me what's going on with him,so we can fix it.... I think were going to get a divorce. He refuses to have sex. Out of the blue, he wont tell me why. I know something is going on with him..but he wont tell me. He never has.. he is like that to everyone. But this is destroyin our marriage it has trickled down into every part of our marriage. I try to not interpet his fear of feelings as rejection and him just not caring. But were going on 5 years of no sex, etc. It hurts me inside badly. How do I help him open up?I need him to be there for me.I thought I would be ok. BUt I need him emotionally. He went to counseling once& now REFUSES to go

I just don't see the point anymore. I get fit and no one notices me other than my mother *puts finger in mouth and gags*. I'm just gonna get fat again anyway. I don't have the energy. I don't have friends (I really don't) much less a girlfriend. I don't wanna pay for no stupid gym I'm not going to go to (I know 'cause I tried it before). Social grace is a waste of time. I'm depressed, I just want to hang around the internet with the invisible acquaintances I'll never meet, watch TV, eat and stay awake all night. It's not like I'm ugly, I'm just overweight.

why do guys feel it necessary to always be right? I know this is not ALWAYS the case but generally speaking, they like to always argue even if the other person is clearly right. Why can't they admit defeat once in a while? I don't know what they are trying to prove, the only thing they are proving is their a little standoffish and stubborn.

I'm going to call this the competitive wage theory. I will say that if countries compete in paying their citizens the cheapest wages and benefits with the job that the country will produce those resources and industrialization is bound in that country. An example is China workers versus USA workers. China workers get paid less, so industrialization is more common there than here in the USA. Whoever loses in the competitive wage theory is bound to create another facet of employment from the products produced from industrialization of those products. We see it today that USA is a service economy, no industrialization, but tons of salespeople. Our labor does not pollute, but persuades. Their labor doesn't persuade, but pollutes. Me personally, I think industrial jobs are harder work, but you should be getting paid more so the government of China did not create strong currency rates of employment so the more expensive work is in China.

My parents forced me into college with guilt trip, but I have no ambitions for getting the grades. I want to be an innovator. The Crystallized Intelligence is strong for learning great lengths in short periods (and boy is it expensive!), but Fluid Intelligence is weakened if over-stressed, therefore you end up getting the grade, but realistically you only remember the parts you enjoyed and understood most...and one cannot enjoy or understand every single detail of every single subject...100% with perfection and use it at 100% efficiency in their real lives towards their job. The degree is nothing but a bonus in applying for the highest paying jobs and social status. I just don't see it...I don't enjoy my own life now, how will a degree alow me to enjoy my life later? I hate myself and I hate most people, so what's the degree any good for? I should solve my own problems first before I take on more stress. I've felt terrible for the past 10 years, what says a degree changes that?
