And please don't say that not all jobs can be telecommuted .. we all know that! But more jobs can be than are today.

It looks to me that supporting telecommuting is a Real way of supporting stay at home moms and dads.

I mean for real it would be more free choice for both men and women. And career and family would not be so much an either/or thing.

I think this is much better than the corporate hell rat race that so many people have to live in and be stressed out by.

And much better than some lame trying to turn back the clock to the bad old days and pretend that economic reality and woman's choices are not real and important.

Hey this is the 21st century and we have the Net.

And Yes I do know that most corporations and governments are not high on doing this even if they say they are. That is something we can try to change. Workers who are more happy are better workers. It I was in business I would want that.

So how can we help make this happen more?

I am having trouble understanding economics. I have come across a question which troubles me

here is the question:

Explain how the concept of opportuity cost is relevant in eachof the following situations:

a) A teenager deciding how to spend their weekly allowance
b)A student deciding whether to stay at home and revise for an examination or go out to a party.
c)An education board deciding whether to close down a small school in a remote area.
d)A government deciding whether or not to place more emphasis on protecting the environment.

i am just giving this as an example from my text book so i can get help from someone to understand this

please note it says that in these questions credit is given for correct use of english and for the good use of economic terms and phrases.

please help!

thanks

I've had at least three dreams about being in an elavator and it would swing back and forth and then just fall. Two dreams it was in the same location, (Where I went to college) and the other I don't know where I was. But I always remember being terrified in those dream, like I know it's going to fall. What do you think this means?

I've asked this question before, but never really got the answer I was looking for. We sleep because our bodies need rest, but it seems that our minds never really sleep. We dream, solve problems, and resolve conflict while we sleep. So, why is it that when we dont physically go to sleep, our minds don't work to full capacity the next day? And after seven days without sleep, shows the beginning signs of insanity.

Has anyone else noticed the moral and ethical degredation that has been becomming worse and worse over the last 5-6 years?
I have noticed that people have become hardened, calloused and just downright frightening when it comes down to even the most innocent of things.
Noone seems to care anymore. Noone appears to want to take respopnsibility for actions of themselves or of others if there is a chain of command.
Its as if society in general has deteriorated to such a point that trust is all but lost, and money is all that has any meaning anymore.
I have seen with my own eyes people who will not move an i nch, even if someone is hurting, suffering or in severe physical or mental anguish, tat unless money is offered or given, help will not be provided.
This makes me sick to my stomach, literally.
I see people taken advantage of, misunderstood and abused everyday, by bullies, thugs and even "regular people".
Police arrest others for minor infractions, letting felons run wild.

okay- this is going to sound weird but i have to ask.

I have an 8 yr old cousin and when my other cousin (who is 16 years old) was babysitting she asked him to play a game where they lay on the couch and who ever is ontop has to do what the other says- my 16 yr old cousin agreed to play and kissed her-
I wasnt there but when i heard about it i asked her where she got this game from and she said she made it up-
Im worried that someone had tried this "game" with her and she is only 8! and i dont even know what to think about the cousin of mine who is twice her age and went along with it!
At that age wouldnt he know that if an 8 yr old wants to play a "game" like that , that you shouldnt "play"???
What do you think?
Should he have known better or is he still young enough where he would still go along with that even if asked by a child?

*I told a friend of mine in a letter I wrote to her (we're both college students) that guy friend of mine who is acquainted with her military school, thinks all the chicks at her school are fugly and when I showed him a picture of her, he changed his mind and he told me to tell her that she'll probably get hit on by buchtes (lesbians and horny guys)-lol. So, I told her to be careful. She's fine last time I recalled when I mentioned something like this. She doesn't seem like the picky anti-homo type, she's made jokes with me too about butches.. Would you get upset if I said that?..it's suppose to be a compliment, as she's pretty that everyone wants her type of thing. *Reason for asking this is because she has yet to reply to the letter I sent her, and when I''m pissed at people, I ignore them and she does too. It's been a month. What do you think?...

*I just don't want to ask her if she got it, as I don't want to seem like I care too much etc.

For example, I get the impression that an Exxon doesn't simply buy oil directly from Saudi Arabia, but that instead, there are speculating middlemen who intercede along the way, and evidently are able themselves to affect the ultimate price to oil companies, and so, to consumers. Who are these middlemen in the oil transaction, how much impact do they exert on prices, and why do they have to exist in the first place (i.e., why can't an Exxon simply "buy direct" from Saudi Arabia, and cut these speculators out of the deal altogether?

So, based on the general consensus that most two-income couples with children "must" work to "survive", one could assume that there is are a large number of people in the US who would rather be at-home parents. So, what can we do to help people to make freer choices?

If there really are lots of women who would rather not be working full-time, then taxpayer-funded daycare doesn't seem very supportive of their free choice. This would make it even harder for one-income families to compete with two-income families. So what could we do so that women don't feel that they must work?

Ms. Friedan started quite a revolution by telling the world that a large number of housewives felt forced into it and would rather be at work. Shouldn't feminists now fight for women who would rather be at home, along with fighting for working women?
