Peggy McIntosh writes in “White Privilege: Unpacking the Invisible Knapsack” (http://seamonkey.ed.asu.edu/~mcisaac/emc598ge/Unpacking.html ), an essay in which she draws parallels between white and male privilege, that “Through work to bring materials from women's studies into the rest of the curriculum, I have often noticed men's unwillingness to grant that they are overprivileged, even though they may grant that women are disadvantaged. They may say they will work to improve women's status in the society, the university, or the curriculum, but they can't or won't support the idea of lessening men's. Denials that amount to taboos surround the subject of advantages that men gain from women's disadvantages. These denials protect male privilege from being fully acknowledged, lessened, or ended. …

[W]hites are carefully taught not to recognize white privilege, as males are taught not to recognize male privilege. So I have begun … to ask what it is like to have white privilege. (cont.)

I want to cultivate my inner self. I just started reading books, but I don't think that only this will provide me with all the appropriate "supplies" for my life. I would prefer to accept answers from people that have some close experience, either this means that they have already widened their cultural borders, or they were in the position that I'm now and acted in a way that brought them to the wanted "level".
P.S. I feel the need to ask, because all those months (or better years ) I was dedicated strictly to my lessons so as to pass to the university, here in Greece, where no chances for multilateral education are offered. Thank you in advance.

I have always been told that I'm smart, but feel dumb because I sometimes say or do little things that are ignorant, i.e. "brain fart" type of things. Doesn't everyone though? Trouble is, when I do these things at work, EVERYONE I work with brings every one of them to my attention in a very obnoxious way, and they look me right in the eye while doing it. It makes me want to hurt them physically, because I feel like I do not have the mental power to defeat them. I would really like to know what the best thing is to do.

I am mean think about it, what do people base that thought off of.

how are people created equal?
i don't see how because some kids are rich others are poor. some are smart and others are dumb... etc...etc. So not everyone has an equal chance at being succesful. becuase if everyone was created equal then we would all have the same skills. these skills make us unique and its our uniqueness that makes this world go around but therefore we are not created equal.

so are humans really created equal or is this just something that people want you to believe.

is there anyone who agrees with me?

if you don't then prove to me that people are created equal; i challenge you to do so.

I recently had a dream a couple of nights ago that I had intercourse with a demon. I can describe him in detail...
The dream was actually quite disturbing.
Does anyone have any idea why I'd dream of having sex with a demon?

I had a dream that my grandmother and I were crossing a very narrow white bridge across a wide river and it was very dark out. We were halfway across the bridge making our way to a ship when we saw a huge wave coming at us at a fast speed. My grandmother and I quickly hugged each other, but when the wave came closer to us it turned into mist.

what should i do?
im 30 years old, iam a bpd sufferer, and had psychological problems since 16, ive endured alot of unhappiness and trauma, i live in the uk and om waiting foor therapy..
but what i really desire in life is
to meet a canadian girl or a u.s girlfriend and i would love to move over there and build a new life, with a loving partner.
but i fear this will be to difficult to achieve, and i will never do it....or ill be prevented from doing it because of my history and record....and if this is the case i wont be able to accept that THAT CAN'T happen, and i fear i will terminate myself, because i dont want to stay here in britain living on welfare, i want a brand new life, i wanna better my life, and i wanna move far away from britain, to a warm sunny climate and meet a loving partner, and if that cant happen, resentment & bitterness will eat me up,& i wont be here long, in all my life ive never had a girlfriend or made any friends,& i want these dreams of mine to happen.

The history of the original European witch hunts of the late 16th and early 17th centuries has become politicized. By the early 1900s, they were seen as outbreaks of hysteria fostered by a sinister and oppressive Catholic Church. Then, about 30 years ago, revisionist historians began to claim that the trials constituted a more systematic campaign by the patriarchal church to extinguish the remnants of goddess-worshiping pre-Christian religions by wiping out the people who preserved them: women, specifically folk healers and midwives...

The Inquisition was not greatly involved in witch burnings; it had its hands full with Protestants and other heretics, whom the church shrewdly perceived to be a far more serious threat to its power. In fact, while the justification for condemning witches was religious, and some religious figures joined in witch hunting campaigns, the trials were not run by churches of any denomination. They were largely held in civil courts and prosecuted by local...

Hi.
I just moved back to the US from Southeast Asia after 3 years.
Everybody there lived in very close proximity and you had friends and neighbors floating around 24/7.
Now that I'm back, I feel lonely a bit lonely (everything is so QUIET here) and overwhelmed when I wander through Super Target and flip throught the TV.
Is there anyone with a similar experience?
Somebody told me there was a book about this, but I can't find it on Google, does anyone know?
Thank you :)
