I am bipolar as well. I understand your frustration. But if things are under control I would not change anything. I've done that before, and the result has always been bad

Ask him if he would willing to lessen the amount of visits you make to him. People who have bipolar often get to feeling better and decide they don't need their therapy or meds anymore. Unfortunately they feel so much better because the therapies are working and doing there jobs. Going off of it all together could and usually does cause a relapse. I understand you feel you no longer need him, but try to keep him around just in case. Like maybe try once every 6 months and then work your up from there.

Both my Mom and my Brother are bipolar. I have seen both of them off of their medications and having really manic episodes. I would suggest that you listen to your therapist for now and continue to see him for a while even though it's been 6 months. I know it's a pain, but you are better off following their advise to stay healthy and well. Maybe in a few months he will think you are stable enough to go only once a month. Just be sure to take your medicines and be careful if you choose to stop going to therapy. I wish you well.

That's the hard thing about being bi-polar. When you feel better you don't think you need to continue with either the therapist or sometimes with the medication. WRONG.
It is because of the therapist and medication that you fell "normal". Instead of going every 10 days say you think once a month would be enough unless the situation changes.

Perhaps you can stretch out the time between visits, however you need to realize that bipolar disorder is not a passing phase.

You will have good periods and then times inexpicably where you are not doing as well. Don't give up your support nets. You never know when you may need extra help.
