My father is paying for my husband, 2 young children, and I round trip airline tickets to go to New York, and DC for a trip. This trip will be happening next month, and I am scared to death to fly. I have flown a few times, and everytime I have, I have been so frightened that I am frozen stiff in my seat until the plane lands, not to mention that I feel like I am going to throw up the whole ride. I dream about flying all the time, but I never crash. Sometimes in my dream, we have to land for emergencies. Now the thought of crashing with my whole family on board frightens me more than anything. I don't have any money to take any courses on my fear of flying, and I don't know if drugs will make it any easier for me, or if they will just complicate matters. Someone please help me! I am nauseous and shaky just sitting here thinking about it.

Working on trying to change the attitudes of a department of people who are a demoralized by years of negative thinking. In a situation where conversation moves to the personal negative, where discussion revolves around the things co-workers do or say that some find offensive, how do we change the direction of that conversation to a. make it not appropriate to slam our associates, and b. how to change the direction to in fact support the positive aspects of disparate personalities.
Example: "I hate how associate A does a certain thing! This really bugs me!" How can that be turned around to be: "Associate A is really good at performing this/these tasks! He/she is really unique! How best to give him/her a pat on the back within the realm of the department?" I believe that the more we can convert the negative habit of slamming our associates and turning that conversation to the positive the more habitual those positive strokes will become allowing morale to soar. Input please.

Tokyo War Crimes Tribunal estimated 20,000-80,000 women in Nanking, China were raped and killed by Japanese soldiers during the Nanking Massacre in Dec 1937.
* Soldiers searched door-to-door for young girls, who were taken to be gang raped and killed.
* The victims' ages ranging from infants to as old as 80.
* Rapes were sometimes in front of spouses or family members.
* The women were killed immediately after the rape, often by mutilation.
* Sometimes sons were forced to rape their mothers, fathers forced to rape daughters
* Monks who had declared a life of celibacy were forced to rape women for the amusement of the Japanese.

In 1982, the Japanese Ministry of Education censored any mention of the Nanking Massacre in a high school textbook. Their official stance was that "Nanking Massacre was not a well-established historical event."

The thing is I'm not sure what kind of person I want to be - a b*tch, a kind one, etc. I'm not sure how to react to different situations, how to see the world. I don't know what to think, really. There are so many points of view, I just don't know which one to choose. I've been trying different behaviors, but whenever I try to decide upon something I'm afraid I'm making a mistake and that some other way of thinking and behavior would be better. I don't know what my priorities should be like, I really don't. I'm so tired, I just want to stick with some way of thinking and living and finally move on. I really don't want to spend my whole life being torn and dithering. Could you teach me what I should do, please?

I work in customer service and deal with people of all ages and backgrounds. It is very noticeable that the older the customer, the more likely they are to be hateful, bitter, and overly demanding. I am not exactly young (50s) and see this in my parents also. They were always easy going, but now in their 70s, they have grown very pessimistic and bitter.

In an era where we are recognizing the dis-asscociation of physical gender/sex vs. mental gender, what is a "woman"? If you are a male-to-female, you think of yourself as a woamn, but you may run into other definitions in society. For example, a MtF can never carry a baby, but does that make her any less a woman? And if we beleive that it does, are we then saying womanhood is defined by reproduction? Is a FTM any less a male for not being able to reporduce sperm? Are we more than "male" and "female" or are we just the some toalt of our parts?

My fear of dying is.. disabling. I don't think anybody around me even knows the extent of it, because I am afraid to even mention that I am afraid of it.. that's how terrible it is. I don't even want to discuss it. When I think about it, I feel very hot and nauseous and feel like passing out. I just feel like.. What happens when I die and that's just.. it? I don't exist anymore? It's like.. so scary.. And I do somewhat believe in God, but, that's sometimes even scarier. And to me it doesn't make sense. I feel like God was just created to make people like me feel better and keep their sanity about dying. An afterlife is a helluva lot more appealing than nothing. Adds a point to our lives. But what if there isn't a point? It just seems.. too happily ever after, or convenient. I'm not asking to be saved or hear any speeches about how I should have more faith, I just want to know how to get rid of this fear. I think about dying at least three times a day every day of my life.

As always, I am writing a paper for my sociology class and I am ONCE AGAIN, trying to get public input from outside of my social circle. Any input would be great. This will NOT be a published piece, and the only people who will see the final piece are myself and my instructor.

How would you define the "traditional family"? Do you think that the vales of the traditional family should be saved? Why or Why not?

I will be quoting from this website, so please be forwarned.

Thank you,
Victoria

I was walking in a very old cemetery..and saw several tombstones of teens...there pictures were on their tombstones...this made me feel so sad....(I think that they passed away in the 1990's or later than this!)It was fairly recent!
Has this kind of thing ever happened to you,and what did you do when you saw these young people?
For me, it was a horrible stunning moment! I just said some small prayers for them..and told them that they were always loved! Still!
That is a hard harsh thing to have to know about or see...ya know?

what about you all?
