i've been feeling very suicidal lately, and finally after a month of depression i've called the suicide hotline. i've even told my parents many times that i've been feeling suicidal, and they got very scared and tried to help. however, it hasn't worked. when they found out i called the suicide hotline, they got very mad and told me never to do that again, and said that the whole family will be in trouble. they said that it won't help, and i keep telling them over and over again that i want to die, but they just kept getting very scared and kept worrying, and haven't done anything about it.

what SHOULD they be doing? shouldn't they seek professional help? they seem afraid to do so.

Personally I feel humans tend to unite when we have a common enemy. Like maybe if we knew aliens were gonna invade us or we were all gonna be destroyed somehow. Cuz really whats the point of all this bickering on Earth? We should really work towards colonising space and building our Terran empire.

ok so whats wrong with me? i'm hardly ever bored, but the past week or so, i've found every moment of the majority of the day to be boring, pointless, and meaningless. TV just isn't amusing me, i've surfed the net to my heart's content, i've read all the books i own, it's night time so i can't go outside (for exercising or otherwise), there are no puzzles here, i don't have a car so i can't drive anywhere, i have a bf but he works 12-hour workdays so he can't really help me out. any ideas why i've felt so bored lately and how to cure it? i think it's literally beginning to drive me a little insance.

" aggressive " does not mean strong,it may be a mask or a better type of defence.

I think it's a really good way to instill guilt in someone. It's not encouraging, but rather puts pressure on people to do things they normally wouldn't want to do.
I think it's a shaming word. 'Should' and 'shouldn't' need to be taken out of the English language? We use them too much, and they cause more harm than good.

I think it's much more empowering for someone to say 'choose' or 'need' than 'should'. I don't know; I've thought that for a long time. I just thought I'd see if anyone else has ever thought that way before.

I think the way we use language is very important.

If their avatar is scowling, are you more inclined to give a negative response?
What about their user name? Does that sometimes influence your response?
If so, how?

People (women) say they are absolutely vicious to each other. Over what? What percentage of girls are like this? How do you go about doing it?

Are these wiierd feelings to have?

People have given up on trying to change me, get me out of my "shell" or whatever. And I knew it was happening and knew it would happen soon and I thought then I would feel hopeless. But honestly, I feel better. I feel more hopeful and determined to be a better person and actually work and earn it. Because when they were more pushy I would always just waiit for the invite, but I Iguess they were waiting for me. But now, Im more relaxed, more grounded, and working to be a better person for myself, not just for other people.

I feel like this gives me a chance to figure out who i am and start projecting that image more. Im not exactly what they wanted me to be because Im naturally reserved and quiet but whatever.

This is completely the opposite of what I thought I'd feel.

My family adopted twins 17 years ago. The girls ended up being diagnosed with severe Reactive Attachment Disorder. They have now turned 18, and after 17 years of heartache, suffering and psychological games, my family--all who have been emotionally (and for my parents, physically) effected--now have a chance to heal. Please share your own stories and ways of healing for others who may be dealing with these kinds of kids/adults.

I have been married to my wife for ten years and have had a really great sex life with my wife. Recently her need to experiment sexually has grown. Normally we just communicate and talk and have “Dirty Sex” and talk to each other about having sex with other people but that has grown. We have started having sex with a couple we know on a regular basis. This isn’t the problem. She wants to take this even further and start having sex with strangers and me to find strange women ect. Her need to push sexual boundaries is growing at a high rate of speed and we both have agreed that this behavior is not healthy. During the course of our ten years of Marriage she says she has felt this way but has managed to stay faithful but has since only been able to communicate to me her real desires. Now I know what half of you are thinking, she was probably molested. She swears up and down she was not. She was how ever promiscuous during High School, and lived with just her mother. If there are any psychiatrist out there or anyone who thinks they can offer me an educated opinion please I’m listening.

For a psychology assignment, I have to survey about 30 adults, half male/female, on "developmental tasks of middle adulthood." Because I don't know 30 adults, I was hoping there were some out there who could help? Thanks for taking the time to do it!

State Gender and Age
Psychoanalyst Erik Erikson believed that middle adulthood (between the ages of 40 - 65) has developmental tasks. Rate the following developmental tasks according to how they are important to you.

1= not important at all5 = very important

1. Helping your children make the transition from home life to the outside world
2. Strengthening your relationship with your spouse
3. Helping make the world a better place by assuming leadership roles in social and civic activities
4. Achieving mastery in your career
5. Adjusting to the physical changes that occur in middle age
6. Making decisions about how to spend your "second adulthood" (meaning old age)
7. Pursuing your passions
8. Coping with your own aging parent
