Sometimes I channel the remarks my mother made to me. My daughter liked my cooking, but portion size was always a problem with her. One time I got so frustrated that her food eating had changed and she didn't want to eat something so I said "there are starving kids in Africa" that would just love your food. After awhile, my daughter said "well, box it up and send it to them, I don't want it anymore."

Yeah I do. One of my friends is really rich, so she doesn't care about money, and whenever we are eating, she will for sure buy more than she needs and leaves at least half of all the food. it is a complete waste. I would always say that there are people out there who are starving and here you are, buying more than you need and not finishing it--at least take it to go so you can eat them later--it is a complete waste! But she doesn't care.
Sometimes I wish that she can switch roles with someone less fortunate just so she will be able to imagine how painful it is to be so wasteful.

Funny, how we use that psychology on kids. I always wanted to ask my parents. Show me three. Show me three kids in Africa that need food. Of course, they could never respond. I know kids in Africa need food now, since I am grown up, however, I know there are alot in the United States, that struggle for it, as well.

No, and that line annoys me too. If we really cared we wouldn't finish our plates, we'd give half of it to those kids.
What difference is it whether that extra food is in the trash or our gluttonous stomachs?
