I talk on my cell phone while I'm driving because that's usually the only time I have to take care of my business. As far as being an Internet addict. I wouldn't say that. I have to work on the Internet all day and I communicate a lot through email because it's just faster and convenient for everyone. There is just a lot you can look up on line and so much you can do. For instance, today I was helping my son with his homework. We needed to find out the fastest growing plant in the world.....well, I did a search and viola! Nothing is more convenient.

I think Americans use cell phones while we drive too often but mainly because most areas in the US are automobile based communities. To get anywhere you have to drive, unlike some cities like NewYork, or Tokyo where many fewer people drive as a necessity. But I do wish people would use cell phones less often socially in the car and only when necessary. People dont realize how dangerous they are when they talk socially on cells in the car. Please DONT do it. As for internet addiction, I dont believe that this is a soley American phenomenon. I think people all over the world spend too much time online. But perhaps there is a slightly larger sense of isolation in the US. Many people pull their cars into the garages and close the door for the rest of the night, never having to socialize if they dont care to do so.

There are two parts in the question.

For the first part:
Insecurity feelings and dissatisfaction make human being tense, restless and apparently driven for ‘something’ that may yield some peace to him/her. Most American people are like this. They know in their heart that this land is not of them and they are either intruders or sneakers in America. They have nowhere to go back except floating like the hyacinth. So, they never get a quiet and quite settled mind. A tense mind would always try to make things hurry (mostly, unnecessary). I believe, this is the reason why most of the Americans use cell phone while driving.

For the second part:
This happens also for the unsettled mind. They try to search something through internet that may give them some peace in mind.

* It is in part the convenience of having those types of communication at our fingertips. We have become use to it and want more. The ability to have such instant contact with outside world and information (present and past) is most gratifying and addictive.
It is also, most important when I comes to disasters, emergency situations and health care. It would be most trying and devastating to turn back the hands of time and remove such necessary and vital products.

So to look professional and rich we pretend to talk on cell phones and get in to accidents. Pretending like we can afford another car ,but we really sell our babies to strangers for down payments and live on the street with a pimp named "The Big Mac". The reason we use is the internet alot is because it makes the world a VERY small place and I guess americans enjoy that. Also, its loaded with porn and spyware we love that too. Cus ppl cant stop being drama queens and telling everyone everything. Plus alot of parents arent home alot so there kids are calling them. and since there not home they get bored and spent countless hours on the internet becuase theres nothing interesting on tv.

i think of it easily relies upon on what form of cellular telephone and community you're utilising. while my American boyfriend got here to Montreal, he could no longer use his American cellular telephone in any respect up right here, for some unusual reason... What a drag, precise? stable success to you however!

Well, you would have to meet my husband, he is from Egypt, and he spends all of his free time sitting infront of the computer while I am used to talking to the side of his head.
