Should we get rid of the Doppler and other sophisticated instruments and bring out the Groundhog every day? Or is it a silly ritual that is done for fun alone, like the Tarot Cards.

When it snows he puts on full waterproofs, hat, scarf, gloves, rigger boots etc just to put the rubish out. It takes him longer to put all the gear on than it does to walk to the end of our drive.
Fair enough, we live out in the countryside and it take a few minutes to get to the road end but I still think he's a bit daft!

Anyone else get really carried away just cos it snows?

I know this will sound naive, but shouldn't it be warmer on top of a mountain because it is "closer" to the sun?

I'm guessing it's colder because the air is thinner on higher elevation. So does this mean that heat travels through air? But heat can also travel in outer space, which is a complete vacuum.

I should've paid more attention in my high school science class.

I know that this is slightly irresponsible (I am 29) but I would love for there to be enough snow to stop work and for everyone to relax and have snow ball fights all day tomorrow!!!!

Is it just me or does anyone else love the snow??

about eight years ago we had two inches and the area around portsmouth literally came to a standstill. Is it worth me setting my alarm tonight or should I leave it and have a lie in? ( if the roads and transport system are going to implode due to the snow widely forecast for tonight)
