Should we get rid of the Doppler and other sophisticated instruments and bring out the Groundhog every day? Or is it a silly ritual that is done for fun alone, like the Tarot Cards.

I don't think anyone really believes in the Groundhog. It's just tradition, and just for fun. You can find out how often he is right, though. Kind of like the Farmer's almanac predicting weather patterns a whole year out.

Also, the movie Groundhog Day with Bill Murray is a favorite, and probably brought more fans to the Groundhog Day fold!

What if the Groundhog has a degree in Meteorolgy, Huh? Bet you never thought of that, did you? Huh? Huh? Huh?Huh?

Hopefully, I dont think that many people take the groundhog seriously. Those that DO take it seriously probably were told to do so by their horoscopes.

It is a ritual that is done just because it is tradition. Nobody actually beleives what the groundhog predicts.

It's a traditional practice, mostly for fun, based on old superstitions.

Just be grateful that there's nobody pushing for a requirement that Intelligent Rodetology be taught to meteorologists. :p
