Usually vertical structure of the atmosphere is expressed in pressure scale, in meteorology, than expressing the altitude in distance (kilo meter) measured from the surface of the earth.
My question is why we use pressure scale than distance?

Hi. I have just seen the War of the Worlds movie with Tom Cruise. At the start there is cloud cover and lots of lightening and then we find that there is no electricity and telephone lines are down. We also discover that there are no mobile telephone signals as well and analouge watches have stopped. Is there any scientific theory (or fact) that could actually expalin an occurance like this? Could both mobiles and analouge watches stop under certian weather condition and if so what are they?

Bible mentions a rain throughout the world for 48 days and nights. Is this technically possible ? You need to have a cold air mass colliding with a humid air mass, cold front, warm front etc., before you can have rain. Even if you have rain through out the world at one time, there is not enough moisture around to rain for 48 days. What do you think ? Only scientific answers please

I am not looking for the answer " If God wants anything is possible"
