What book would you recommend for an interested, moderately intelligent non-scientist? I'm looking for something at about the level of Einstein's 'Relativity', that gives a comprehensive summary of the theory without becoming either too simplistic or too complicated.

Thanks!

F = Max

if the mass of the universe is infinite
and the universe is accelerating ax > 0
F = c * ∞
Then the force causing it is ∞ N too

So ∞ J of work must be done also

but this is impossible since nothing can be infinite

Therefore, the mass of the universe must be finite.

so it is either finite or it is infinite with mostly empty space?

Does this work????

we know that opposite magnetic poles will repel each other .... since our earth is a big magnet , isnt it possible for magnet to be repelled from the surface of earth and therefore float on the air ?
if we can control the strength of the magnet , arent we able to use it to float from the surface of earth ?

The head of a woodpecker is moving forward at a speed of 7.49 m/s when the beak makes first contact witha tree limb. The beak stops after penetrating the limb by 1.87 mm. Assuming the acceleration to be constant, find the acceleration magnitued in terms of g.

Note: A rollercoaster is around 3 G's.

If the Universe had 0-information before "10-43" seconds after it's creation or before the big bang-singularity, then how did it acquire it's high information state INCLUDING the 4 fundamental LAWS of PHYSICS.....without the input of an intelligence/Creator?......American astrophysicist Righard Gott states "There is an infinite LOSS OF INFORMATION about events before "10-43 seconds"...So how does stable laws of physics POP out of nowhere from probable quantum energy? ....Or is "quantum tunneling" just another "FAITH-BASED" religion masquerading as science..Or just fanciful thinking akin to Snow White and the 7 dwarfs?

Examples of Everett's many-worlds theory of quantum mechanics invariably give an example of a one-time measurement, rather than a continuous process like detecting radioactive decay with a geiger counter. The theory would seem to say that at every moment there is a division into a decay world and a non-decay world, which would lead to an infinity of worlds in every time period, however short, and offer no way to deal with half-life and the probability of decay. (Probability seems like a problem with the theory even in the ordinary measurement case.)

Please answer it using only SI units, none of that primitive crap they use in the USA. Please show all work along with any formulae used, preferrably in steps, so that I can learn how to do this on my own as I'm rather stuck at the moment with this question. The question is as follows:

A sled of mass 50kg is pulled along snow-covered, flat ground. The static friction coefficient is 0.30, and the sliding friction coefficient is 0.10.

d)Once moving, what total force must be applied to the sled to accelerate it 3.0m/s^2?

The help would be most appreciated! I need this damn physics course to begin my career as an electrician.

At the speed of light Time stops ( dillate at its maximum rate ),but why is it when we are not moving Time doesnt move at it´s maximum rate ( we still `feel´ 1 sec as just a tick on our wristwatch)? Which books shall i refer to for this kind of questions?..since i doubt somebody can answer this..

say i shot a beam of laser at the north pole. It is directed at Amazon jungle, There´s a Mirror that should deflect the beam to a new direction and that is japan.In japan there´s a similar mirror that should deflect the laser back at me. Say we abandon everything that can interfere with the course of the laser such as Mountains,trees etc etc..Will it forms a triangle (with 180° as the sum of every inside edges) or will the light travels straight to the Horizon then outer space..

If a photon has consciousness...

and right at the onset of the big bang...a photon was emitted in the explosion and travelled through a vaccum at the speed of light...completely undistrupted ...until right now.

And right at this minute, the photon was slowed down to a stop.

From the perspective of the photon, then no time has passed at all from the big bang until now...4.5 billion years is just a blink of an eye ...right?

?????
