If you put a large Tesla Coil in orbit and powered it up what would happen?

A large Tesla Coil when powered up on Earth emits large bolts of lightning but what if it was turned on in zero gravity and in a vacuum?

It would emit electrons until the coil's voltage became too high for the electrons to escape, then it would just sit there all charged up.

I think those depend on O2 so then nothing would happen.
