I recall once reading about a bomb that I think was called a carbon bomb (though google searches seem to be proving me wrong) and was claimed to be the most powerful bomb, only it was purely theoretical because it fed off oxygen (or perhaps some other element in the atmosphere) and so it would continue going until that was all used up and would basically mean the end of life. Anyone know what the name of this bomb is?

It's a direct translation from italian, forgive the mistakes:

A container with thermically insulating walls has 2 parts, part A which contains a m(A)=1230 g of water at a temperature of 15.6 degrees Celsius, and part B which contains a m(B)=830 g of ice at a temp. of 0 degrees Celsius. The two parts are divided by an insulating plate.

If the insulating plate is removed, what is the final temperature of the system? What is the heat exchanged between water and ice?

(latent heat of fusion for ice: r=79.7 cal/g)

PS. I think I managed to do it by bringing the water to 0 degrees, but I do not understand why I should do that. Though, it's the only way I managed to do it.

I tried to solve it considering the final temperature as an unknown quantity, but then the unknown quantities were two, with only one equation.

Please give me a method to understand what the final temperature is without me guessing it at first.

Thanks!

Why does a moving charged particle produce a magnetic field? And why is the 'magnetic force' (is that the correct term?) generated by a moving charged particle perpendicular to the field as well as the velocity of the charged particle? Is there a known reason for these phenomena, other than these are what are predicted mathematically/observed experimentally?

What exactly is a magnetic field anyway? I know it is one part of the electromagnetic field, but that does not really tell me anything.

If possible, please explain in simple terms without using math (not a mathematician or a physicist!).

Einstein, when asked what he thought time was, replied, "Time is that which is measured by a clock." Others see time as a linear dimension, or a fuzzy overlay of a dimension on top of our 3 space dimensions. I see it as being established by entropy. What's yours?

Also, Why does the body feel cooler in moving air than in still air?

I know it has something to do with the fact that heat transfers from hotter to cooler, and heat capacity and phase change. But I really don't know how to answer these two questions exactly especially the second one. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
