When comparing the force that is required to climb a mountain by walking up a trail that slopes gently upward to the top, versus getting there by scaling a sheer vertical cliff face, which of the following is a TRUE statement?

a)you use more force for a given distance of movement on the walk than on the climb.

b)walking up the trail forces you to cover a greater distance, but the amount of force needed to cover a given distance will be less.

c)Scailing the vertical cliff, while dangerous, uses less force than going the "gentler" way around.

d)the distance covered is the same either way,but scaling the cliff is harder because you are working against gravity.

I have an array of 21GA dispensing needles with a polyethylene top and a stainless steel needle shaft. I am trying to drip water through it at a constant rate but air bubbles get in the way of the shaft an slow the drip rate and soon enough it happens to many of the needles, reducing overall drip rate. Are there any quick n cheap (or otherwise) solutions to ridding the needles of air bubbles. I thought of utrasonic transducers providing tiny vibrations to break it up, but there are none small enough for my application and it is an expensive alternative. Any suggestions?

I just suddenly wondered out of thin air, no pun intended, what does air smell like? I know that some people can smell Cyanide where as most cant, and I've been thinking, perhaps we've just filtered out the smell, like so much more because it bombards us on a daily basis since child-birth. So, my question to you is, what does Air smell like?

And math too. Seriously, could they make it more boring? I think that's why only men are into it, like playing Madden, it's just not for girls who are pretty.

I'm in China and the TV is fairly new (supplied in an apartment by my language school). I believe this "wind", which is quite strong, consists of ions. Are they positive or negative ions, and could they increase cancer risk, for example?

There is also a new fridge which always smells of the freon coolant when the door is opened. Can this contaminate the food with harmful toxins?

I was sitting in a car with my wife at a red light. As I was waiting I was just casually watching people letting my eyes drift as one normally does without thinking. My attention was drawn to a man that was slightly oddly dressed for the day...a long overcoat with collar turned up...fedora on his head...and a slightly funny gait to his walk. Nothing too strange but just enough to draw my attention to him. He was walking beside a brick wall and all of a sudden he turned to his left and stepped into the solid wall. I turned to my wife to ask her if she had seen it too but was cut short by her question...she said...."Did you see what I just saw?" I said..."There must be a doorway there that isn't visible at this angle...but we both knew it to be untrue. The light turned green and we advanced and sure enough...the wall was solid brick...no way for a person to step out of sight...and yet he did.
Explanations anyone?....and "NO" we are not "weirdos" or "drinkers".

I asked a question not but a half hour ago (or something) about why people who are good at math are seen as intelligent. Answers were plain and simply because they possess logical skills, abstract thinking etc. Useful answers and it was mentioned that you either 'have it' or 'don't have it'.

I think by this he meant that you either have these skills or you will never have them. I'd like to open this up for question as I believe that you can develop them. The brain thinks in a certain way and it's a matter of how you perceive information you are told and whether you understand it or not. I think it's possible for people to alter, although this may not be the right word, but also expand and develop our understanding skills and perception of how the brain analyses and thinks.

This sounds very similar to the skills needed for maths! But it's actually why you have the skills for maths.

Thanks for any thoughts in advance!

I know that a cow has to have a calf first in order to be milked. My question is, what happens to the calf once the cow is used for milking? What nourishes the calf? Does it still nurse from the mother, along with humans milking the cow, or what?\
Thanks!
