YES
I believe in God because I see no evidence that matter can create life.
It follows that life must create matter.
If that is true, then life (or the life force, spirit if you wish, or prime mover unmoved for lack of a better name ) existed outside of the physical universe. Life therefore is separate from the physical universe. Life creates and animates matter.
If the physical universe is made up of energy, matter, space and time and none of those exist except as part of a physical universe, then none of those factors can destroy the life force.
If a physical body is destroyed, it dies. The life force has to move on to something else if it is to stay in the physical universe, but there then remains the possibility that it may move on to something else.
I could write a great deal about this, but that prime mover must be what most religions call God.
Religion typically deals with the topic in an authoritarian fashion. I don't think anyone has total or exact knowledge as to who or what that "God" is, but I am fairly certain he exists.
If not, let's see matter create life!
If it is physical we should be able to detect and measure it with physical instruments.

This is a question better suited for the Religion & Spirituality section (albeit a trite question). Though what the heck, I'll play along with the "touchy" subject.
The short answer is no, I do not believe in "God". Granted this begs the question of what I mean by the word since hardly all theists agree on what the word means, but regardless I've never found use in any of the definitions, no matter how well-defined (e.g, "God is as described in the Bible") or how vague (e.g. "God is love") they can get.
I simply feel no need to bring in notions of invisible beings into my life. I don't need to embrace the notion of deity to explain the physical world around me, explain my personal life experiences, explain human interaction or morality, give meaning and purpose to my life, find awe or mystery in my world, nor comfort me in troubled times. I have found, through personal experience (as I was very theistic at some point in my life), that introducing such notions only creates more questions than answers.
Since you post this to the science section, I'm assuming you want to know about how this relates to those who study mathematics and science. I have come to my conclusion through my own PERSONAL experiences. My study of mathematics and science didn't lead me to rejecting theism. Just as credibly scientists who DO believe in God do so because of their own personal experiences outside of work.

Is this in mathematics because someone once claimed to have proven the existence of god mathematically?
I'd say I'm an Agnostic. I'm waiting until definitive proof comes along, or the holy spirit sets me on fire and burns me with the fire of faith! Give me a Hallelujah!
Seriously, I've never felt that intangible thing inside that's called faith in god. I suppose it must be a nice thing. The few friends I have who are religious and can actually reason and think make it seem desirable. It's the fanatics who make me glad I've never found it.

no, but i am also an agnostic, if i saw proof i would believe. i think the bible is...to put in nice terms...crazy. i was raised catholic and went to catechism for nine years and was baptized and confirmed and i have never believed in him. i dunno if its because im too logical or pessimistic, but i kinda wish i did believe. its statistically proven religious people are happier. watchin the news and seeing all those people suffering also doesn' help. there's also worshipping that i find weird...
but then again...where did the universe come from...besides the big bang.
none the less, if there is a god i would not necessarily worship him...depends

I believe in something that is logically rooted in me
things that I experienced are within my memory bank
I used them to correlate thing weather good or bad
If the thing is good I accept them as knowledge because they are useful
if the thing is bad, I just set aside, I don't want to follow it
I someone tells me that this is the truth and its good, I listened, interpret it if it is good or bad
The question is Do you believe in God?
This logic is still to be proven to myself
the teaching about God is good. . . this I accept
the teaching about the existende of God, this I doubt
the existence of about Jesus, I am opted to believe because of his teaching to be good. I believe more on the not material things rather than the person
the teaching about riligion some are good some are not
watch I have also a question. follow me up

Not "Bible Thumping" but ABSOLUTELY. I believe in God the Father, Jesus the Son and the Holy Spirit, the Comfortor. I attend a non denominational church which basically means, "we" don't know what you relationship is with Christ, you do and you are welcome. I love that. NON JUDGMENTAL church is the only way to go. I do not believe certain religions are the only ones to go to heaven, as some do. I have had a plethera of MIRACLES in my life! I mean MIRACLES! I cannot fathom not having GOD in the center of my WORLD. GOD BLESS YOU ALL.

I am referred to as an "Agnostic" which means i believe there is a higher power but do not follow a book's rules when living my life. To me as long as you are a good person whatever god is there he/she will except us.

Yes, because no one has been able to prove that he doesn't exist.
Look at it this way........................
If he doesn't exist, we all end up in the same place, but if he does, well then, we don't all end up in the same place.
Seems like the odds are better for those who believe in God.
