I just suddenly wondered out of thin air, no pun intended, what does air smell like? I know that some people can smell Cyanide where as most cant, and I've been thinking, perhaps we've just filtered out the smell, like so much more because it bombards us on a daily basis since child-birth. So, my question to you is, what does Air smell like?

I don't think that humans can really detect the smell of elements of air. I also think you could be very right; therefore, we will never know unless you could ask a newborn. I think the smells we associate with air of sorts, has to do with the minute particles that are trapped in the air that we don't smell on a constant basis. For instance, methane has a particular odor, as does the smell of burning flesh. However, in these cases another gas is introduced to the mixture we are usually use to.

My car filters out smells so when I am traveling I can notice the different smells of different towns and cities.

A nearby town smell like PIGS! Phoenix smells hot in the summer; and like bus fumes in the winter.

We get used to smells quickly the smells are still there; our olfactory nerves become numb.

Right now my air smells like pepperoni and cheese pizza.

Later on it is going to smell like popcorn, but I only know that because I'm clairvoyant.
