Blue supports evolution, red creationism.

Why does Europe accept evolution so much more strongly, despite being the origin of much of Christianity, and despite the populations being overwhelmingly religious?

Even religion has been forced to make concessions...

not total, of course, but why has the US held on so strongly to Creationism?

Why isnt there a unified scientific voice screaming about things like this? They foster and further ignorance on a massive scale...opinions? comments?

Why is this belief held onto so tightly in the face of so much evidence to the contrary?

Even though she had more fish than she knew what to do with, she decided to go fishing again the next day. And she caught exactly 40% of what she caught the day before. Which was still a lot of fish.

She continued fishing every day. And every day she caught exactly 40% of what she caught the previous day.

If she continued fishing every day for twenty years, how many pounds of fish, total, would she catch? Please round to the nearest pound.

What can I do to encourage kids to ask questions and be critical thinkers, to be interested and curious about science and to grow up to be, at the very least, conscientious about the funding and goals of the future of scientific research?
I believe this is a very important idea that is not being efficiently met by today’s education system, and, rather than blame anyone, I would appreciate suggestions and ideas on how to be involved in such activities.

For me...

That pain is what our brain tells us it is, our experience of pain is not really real. Nerves take 'pain messages' to our brains from the site of the injury in our body - and our brain says 'Ow!!' = so when nerves are damaged people can feel pain even if there is no injury. For instance, most people experience 'phantom limb' pain at some point when they have a limb removed - they 'feel' pain in their non-existant limb. Also, if you have been in pain for a while your brain can start telling you that you're still in pain - even if the injury is not there anymore. Also psychological distress and trauma can be expressed in physical pain (psychogenic pain).
