It's going to be that way, no matter what. And I have no problem with it. Those kids will learn the hard way to do their own work. I have seen kids put up whole sets of chemistry problems, or ask for a complete paper. Not only are they setting themselves up for bad grades, since they obviously have no clue what they are supposed to be learning, and won't be able to tell a right answer from a wrong one, or a good essay from a horrible one. But they will also be woefully ill prepared for final exams, standardized tests, college, and career.

Difficult question to answer. It all depends on the person who's asking. If they have spent time researching/working the questions, then I don't see a problem with it.

However, it is the ones that don't put any effort into finding their own answers that I have a problem with.

When I look at questions regarding homework, I try to find out the person's history of questions. If there are 3 or 4 from the same day, I don't even attempt to answer the question for them because it is apparent that they just don't want to do their own homework. If it is the person's first or second question of the day, I try to work it out for them, but they are responsible for showing the work to get any answers that I give.

Yes because children will learn if they didn't know the correct answer or if they don't understand the q

but

No because the homework is for the child to learn and not to get other people to answer it for them

Well, as long as people will answer students will ask. I try to only answer general questions rather than "here is my math problem, what is the answer..." questions, but I'm sure in some cases I am still helping someone be lazy... Overall, I think the system can be helpful for students who are asking for help understanding rather than asking for an answer. Do you think?

i'm a former math TC and actually, I reached a factor as quickly as I did no longer extremely care anymore. in the event that they ask, its by way of fact they choose the help. i've got met people who extremely don't comprehend such hassle-free issues. i comprehend some people take great factor approximately it and submit their finished homework, yet i'm no longer the guy who loses, they do. i comprehend i'm being slightly indifferent, even if it extremely is the internet. there is often somebody whose going to respond to such questions and in the event that they are able to get a stable answer from a TC (who i'm assuming provides nicely defined solutions even to hassle-free ones) then its extra functional than getting solutions from people who in basic terms spit out the respond with a half-defined answer. i've got responded hassle-free questions like this before, and that i've got have been given some extremely massive thank-yous by way of fact i individually defined the answer as I did it. We on no account comprehend for particular who extremely needs the help and who's in basic terms taking great factor approximately us. Its like no longer giving a beggar funds by way of fact we assume he's going to flow off and purchase alcohol - could that make our international a extra functional place?

The only way I'll help with those questions is if I can tell them how to get the answer. I never just give the answer, what does that teach anyone? Half the time, they could have done the research in less time than it takes to write the question.

...depends on if the commentor wants to "give away" an answer. i've seen many multiple choice questions posted and plenty of people answering.

personally, i will "answer" a homework question and EXPLAIN why that's the answer in the hopes that the questioner will learn something.

YAHOO! answers is like a big study group where you don't necessarily personally know your group members.
