It seems to me that evolutionists are deluding themselves into believing themselves to be somehow smarter or better educated than anyone who chooses to believe in either Intelligent Design or Creationism theories. Quite of few of the die-hard evolutionists that I've talked with seem to feel that any system of religion diminshes them, but... Random House College Dictionary & Dictionary.com defines religion as - "a set of beliefs concerning the cause, nature, and purpose of the universe", "a deep convition of the validity of religious beliefs & practices", "a point or matter of ethics & conscience". Merriam Webster - "a cause, principle, or system of beliefs held to with ardor and faith". Encarta - "a set of strongly-held beliefs, values, and attitudes that somebody lives by" & "an object, practice, cause, or activity that somebody is completely devoted to or obsessed by". By these definitions isn't the THEORY of evolution, which also can't be scientifically proven, a religion?

Science has brought us many incredible discoveries and some of the great scientists have changed world history.

But why do many scientists presume the existence of God would undermine all that great work? There's no doubt that in many cases the words God (and even moreso Jesus) gets many scientists all prickly. Does this extend to the diety of the other world religions?

This question has nothing to do with religious wars or persecution - forget for a moment all the various religious groups and how they may fall short of their own doctrines and how they might have done unspeakable acts in the names of their gods.

The question is to do with a deity - any deity - not necessarily a Christian one.

Why is the idea of such a phenomenon so difficult for many scientists to accept?

I'm trying to ask a sincere question here. It's very likely u r more intellectual than I am - but please treat my ? with respect. Its easy to bash or ridicule other ppl. So please resist. Thank you

Im 15, and I think im one of the few who realizes this. The grown up communities are runing the future of 15year olds, global warming, wars, just because you guys are ones old enough in charge doesn't make you people special.
Now we, 15 year olds will have to give up what we like to do best, and fix the mistakes that you grown ups screwd up. Now its going to halt the progress of the future.

When we 15 year olds grow up, how can we fix these mistakes. and prevent it again?

Scientists say that we evolved from single cell organisms like algae, plants etc. and then to the therapsid (common ancestor) and then to animals. I just don't get it how one day we were monkeys and another we were humans and humans give birth to humans, and what will we be like in 1 million years to time? Will we have evolved into a different creature?
