I have eaten bamboo in a chineese restaurant and it was, you know, like grass, not hard as wood as the one they use in making furniture. But I've never realized that until now. Thank's for mentioning

Actually, I did know that. And someone on YA asked about putting bamboo in their yard in Massachusetts, and I wrote be careful doing that, because bamboo can take over the yard, for it's related to grass.

I knew that, I also knew they are monocots and I am not a botanist, (but my sister is, a PhD no less). Of course you know corn (maize) is also a grass.
