Sperm are not living organisms; they are cells that carry chromosomes. Since it is hard to make non-living organisms move, nearly one-third of the energy the human body has goes into making these cells. And by the way, the pull-out method is highly unreliable; it is about 30% effective (meaning your wife/girlfriend could be pregnant right now). Consider latex condoms next time, they are 95-99% effective.

Sperm are alive- if they weren't, they'd be hard put to transfer life- but they are gametes.
Sperm are single cells with half the genetic material of any one cell in the full-grown organism. Thus, they are not truely "organisms," if you want to be technical.
If this is a moral delima for you, I suggest listening to a well-known Monty Python song titled "Every Sperm is Sacred."
Pollen is the sperm of the higher plants. Pollen is, too, alive, but the parent plant makes it in abundance, since all but a few will be lost. The same can be said of the gametes of male mammals (ie: "you").

As a card carrying Republican, and I can only guess, Catholic, isn't pulling out a form of birth control? George W. Bush, shortly after taking office, cut funding for International Planned Parenthood. Apparently, the Republicans are of the mind that birth control is wrong, even in underprivileged nations that already have more mouths than they can feed.
So...in the spirit of the Religious Right, they are potential republicans and must not be carelessly spilled. Feel guilty, very guilty.

It depends on your definition. Organisms that carry DNA are usually considered living organisms. But no, I don't think you are killing your kids any more than I think you are killing yourself if you donate blood cells (which are part of you and are alive).Think of them as a component of something that could potentially turn into a human being. But, by themselves, they are just cells.

Yes they are living ORGANISMS!!! No Child can come from them unless ONE and only ONE enters an egg. Millions of sperm die no matter what you do! Sperm are simply single celled organisms who job it is to search for an egg and deliver its DNA to that egg. Unless your truly ready for fatherhood and the responsibility that goes with it don't do anything foolish. Better for a sperm to die than a child.

Yes, they are living organisms but their lifespan is extremely short except for the lucky one of millions that unites with an egg to start a baby. You aren't killing unborn kids unless you kill the baby, the fertilized egg.

All any of us can give you is (from your point of view) a guess, educated or not. They're not 'alive' in the sense that most of us usually think of 'alive', but they are a portion of the potential to become a person (assuming they're not defective, that is). If that meets your definition of 'alive', then yes they are. Otherwise, if it makes you feel better, no, they're not.
