there is pleanty of work to do there. working with the polar ice caps and measuring permifrost which is poisonous to our atmosphere, studying global warming. you can study weather, astronomy. but if you are really interested in going to antartica then this is a good source to read by a scientist.

Just about all types of science are done in Antarctica.
I do astronomy

But people do everything from biology to meteorology. Notable sciences that are associated with Antarctica are climate studies, glaciology, and auroral studies.
