I love Star Wars. I always see huge ships like Imperial Star Destroyers, Republic Cruisers, and The Invisible Hand then I wonder if it is possible to build spacecraft that big. I know that ships that big would be too heavy to be built on Earth so it would have to be built in space but is that possible?

Hi this question is for technology guys. i am working on a project, I was curious if there are any RF ids which work well with short distances say 10-20 but would stop working if there is longer distance?
Also is there is a way I can increase and decrease the range in a single chip?

Thanks

I am working on an anti-fouling project which is static. It will be submerged under water for more than 95% of the year. This is a barrage gate and is made of metal. I need an anti-foluing solution which is environmentally friendly. The most feasible option i currently have is using silicon-based paints, which is costly. Any other suggestions?

hello,

I am in high school and I wanna study wireless communications in college. I have a very stupid question to ask.
I understand the electromagnetic spectrum and the frequency range that each type of wave occupies, but what is the amplitude of each type of these waves ? ( radio, microwave, xray, etc). Also, are these supposed to be sine waves, square waves, triangular waves ? According to fourier theorem, I understand that square waves and other nono-sinusoidal periodic waves can be written mathematically as a bunch of harmonically related sine waves, so when we talk about 95MHZ wave, are we talking about sine waves ?
Also, why r we running out of space since for example, in 95 mHZ range, one radio station can have 95.111 Mhz and 2nd?radio station can be at 95.112 and the third at 95.113 ?
please excuse me if my questions sound so stupid or if i m not asking the questions right.

Hi there,

Can anyone tell me or give me a link on how an automatic car park machine works? where a person takes a card initially and then he pays for the parking fee at a nearby booth (paying and inserting the card), and finally he needs to return the card on leaving the gate.

I dont really understand the basics behind it and how does it manipulates the card to indentify the user..

I was looking to make one of those detonator plunger boxes that they use in cartoons. It's a box that has a handle on top and when you push the the handle all the way down (kind of like a bicycle pump) the TNT, dynamite, or my case fireworks are detonates/ignited.

Where can I find a tracking device detector? I need an electronic device that will detect for me if someone has hidden a tracking device in any of my things. Where can I find something like this? How does it work? How do the tracking devices work? Do they use UHF? Sattelite or the cell towers?

Thanks for the help.

My husband would like to take the PE exam for Mechanical in April of 08, here in California. He was told by a co-worker that unless you take a preparation course, the pass rate is only 25%. We would love for him to take the course but it's almost $1000 without the latest and greatest editions of the book. He bought the latest edition in June of last yr and that is the edition he has been studying out of.

25% doesnt seem like really good odds to me. I wondered if it was a marketing scheme for the company that was giving the course or if it really is that low. My husband would like to study on his own and also, the course is INCREDIBLY expensive but if it's the only way people can pass the exam successfully is it worth taking? He is a Cal Poly graduate in Mechanical Engineering and has worked in the industry for 3 yrs now. He is also doing a lot of project management and has been promoted a couple of times in his company. I think he can do it, but am I right?

How can he prepare?

The rope has to go from a 4th story window of a standard government facility to the ground. The average weight of each person decending the rope is 200 lbs, with a standard deviation of 15, n is around 25. How many people at one time can be decending on the besheet rope without the rope breaking? I'd like a 95% confidence degree in the number. Thank you for your assistance in this matter.
