How can I measure vibration in quality control room in my company? We have some machine tools in production hall ( milling, turning, cutting, cranes, forklifts etc..), which procedure and equipment I need for this job? Quality control room is in the same building like production hall, there is only wall between them. Thank you for your answers.

Ive dug a small hole for my launch site (2ft round by 2ft deep) I figure this should contain the better part of the initial blast, while sending my trash can rocket soaring into the sky. my ignition system is a car battery with two wires set to arch when I throw the switch.(from a good 100 feet away). this should be good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Of course the answer is obvious. But my problem is that I have applied for the post of Assistant Treasurer of a the students astronomical society. And now I have to face an interview and also make a speech based on 'why i think im the best for this position'.

As im an engineering student i dont have much expericence in accountings either.
Please tell me what are the important things i need to mention?

thank you so much

Please recommend a good text/resource about the design of power transmission lines. I'm interested in knowing about the qualitative decisions: the physical tensions of the lines, use of mechanical vibration dampers, are lines a continuous cable or separate segments between each of the towers. What bad things happen if the spacing between cables, insulators at towers, etc. are not uniform? How do power lines work where there are pairs of cables rather than one: what are the benefits and design constraints? I'm interested in a breadth of knowledge rather than a depth: I want to understand the engineering tradeoffs. If an online reference exists that talks about such things, great. If you feel like diving in and giving a brief survey of the engineering principles, that's even better. Otherwise, please recommend a text that provides a survey of the engineering issues in electrical power transmission line design. Thanks!

Supposedly these mines being serviced by the ice road are billion dollar operations. What prevents them from building some airstrips up there and flying supplies in? Seems like it'd be easier and a hell of a lot more convenient so there must be a good reason.

I purchased a small electric incubator for my geese eggs. Every thing worked properly for a fortnight when due to a central power cut for about half an hour, all my 18 eggs in the incubator had to be thrown away. So I think I need a stand-by generator or any simple apparatus to assist the incubator; somebody advised a U.P.S currently used for computers. Please help me for any simple way to boost the incubator.

I have a Diesel generator using leroy sommers alternator and which uses intelilite MRS 11 controller , it is 380 V , 50 Hz , yesterday i started having problems , after running the genset for like 12 seconds it shuts down and i get two error msgs the first one is : Shutdown Level for Phase 1 under volts
the second error msg is : Shutdown Level for Gen voltage Unbalance .
in the first 12 seconds the voltage on 3 phases got no problem and after 12 seconds the generator auto shuts down and i cannot seem the find the problem , any help will be appreciated

I have a machine pulling a weight, attached by a rubber band, up an incline that has a slowly varying slope. I know the position of the machine well (about 0.1%), but the rubber band introduces a great deal of positional uncertainty. I want to know the position of the weight at any time T. Fortunately, I have accelerometers attached to the weight.

Is a Kalman filter suitable for this task?
1) My accelerometer measurements are simply observations, not controller inputs
2) The mean of my position error is most likely _not_ zero (the weight will typically lag the machine position)
3) How can I eliminate the gravity component of the acceleration so that I can use it in the model (note that the slope of the incline varies, albeit slowly)?
4) I have no way to know or model the frictional forces. I can only sense the effect through the accelerations.
5) In some cases the weight comes to an abrupt halt with subsequent stretch in the rubber band followed by rapid acceleration

I think i got some fibreglass insulation in my eyes the other day at work. I was using a knife to scrape some of it back so i could get it round a pipe and some of the dust when into my eye. Is there any dangers from this? I believe it was thursday my eye was fine until today where it feels a bit itchy and irritated i get this feeling all the time but i'm just wondering if the fibreglass has anything to do with it.

Cheers
