]am way out of school.]
a train weighs 120,000 pounds
it can travel, using diesel fuel, 16 kilometers
in one hour

if it switches power, it can travel 4 kilometers
in one hour using elect generators

if it again switches power, to wind power,
it can travel 2 kilometers per hour.

if the engineer wishes to incorporate
all 3 means of propulsion, what speed or
distance will he be able to reach?

offer answer and foruma.

I really like the design aspect of engineering and i might try to do that. However, i have heard lately that alot of companies want engineers with a masters degree. Is this correct? I really dont see myself going to grad school, atleast not soon. Right now, i dont really have the grades to get in. If i were to go to grad school, i would want to go to the school im attending now, but they want a 3.0 to get it, but i dont have that.

I'll allow some cheating (a few years before or after the 1900's). Was it the television? Telephone (mass-produced and used)? Radio? Nuclear bomb? Internet? PC? Cell phone? Airplanes? Space shuttle/rockets? Medical innovations (i.e. pacemakers, transplants, MRI's, etc.)? Mass-produced automobiles (i.e. Ford Model T)? Anything else I may have left out?

I actually thought of this concept when I was a sophomore. I recently found out that some people at MIT have already started researching this. My question is, will I be able to research this when I'm working on my Masters next year? Or does the concept belong soley to them now? Thanks.

....there is a proposal for a tower to go up above a store at a busy intersection in my area. Can you point me to some websites, articles or information about: What long term effects the transmissions could have on people, transmission frequencies. The owner is talking about a 20 year lease from the cell phone carrier. Children will soon be using that store as they buy snacks and supplies. And would you feel safe working in that store for years? Thanks for any information.

A brewery uses compressed air for its production processes. It employs a compressor driven by an AC motor to produce the required volume and pressure during production days (Monday to Friday). The power consumed by the compressor is just alright during peak load or high plant air demand. Now, during lean days (Saturday and Sunday) only about 20% of the total compressor capacity could be utilized by the plant with the same and only one high power compressor motor. The management wants to cut down operational expenses.

My gearmotor runs at 9RPM, and i need to turn my wheel at that same speed (or faster) so i have 2, 10" pulleys. Right now i'm using a belt that measures 25 1/2" outside pulley to outside pulley. Once plugged in, the motor pulley turns fine but the wheel pulley starts to turn then stops as the motor continues turning. If i put a smaller pulley on the wheel, will that work better or should i get a longer belt??
