I've owned and cooked on both kinds, too. I love my gas stove much better than any electric.

Look in any commercial kitchen (restaurant). You'll rarely find any electric grill or cooktop in a restaurant kitchen. The only thing electricity is good for is heating up the grease in the deep-fryers.

LPG. Have owned both. Regular LPG hardly ever has anything go wrong. Electric will fry burners if you put a dry pan on them. If you like salt potatoes, don't ever let them boil over with the salt water. Very spectacular as the pan and burner and controls are destroyed. Electric transfers heat by contact (very poor) and convection. Gas transfers almost all of its heat as it hits the pan bottom and goes up the sides. Electric burners range from ~1200 -1500 watts. Ovens run ~2000.
Only advantage to electric is you can rewire a kitchen much faster that plumb a gas stove. Most people will not attempt to run gas because the gas company works with the insurance companies to deny coverage in case of home plumbers fires.
You need a reasonabley good electric source (220V 30 amp)

It depends on so many things that it's an impossible question to answer. You may live in a place where electricity is really cheap and gas is expensive... or vice-versa. We could compare a super-efficient electric stove to an inefficient gas stove... or vice-versa. And don't forget that energy prices are constantly changing -- gas had spiked up, but is now falling... the same could happen to electricity. I'd suggest that you make your choice based on the kind of and amount of cooking you do, the end costs are probably not going to be so significant that it's worth changing what works best for you.

lpg stove is likely to be more suitable and economic for cooking . Heating rates ( low, midium, high etc )are adustable for matching the need of food variety leading to better quality /taste of food.
As to cost savng , you should have best quality burner .

Electric coils often needs change and heater control is difficult or not available .

Electricity price is always higher then gas energy price .
