am having problems with calculating the load transferred from a two way spanning slab to the beams surrounding it. how are the loads transferred from the trapezoidal section and the triangular section to the beams? Are there any specific formulas?

i used to calculate the total load in KN and then divide it by the span of the beam to obtain the dead load in kN/m. But that is an underestimate!
What is the appropriate method for that?

Hi,

I applied for Geological Engineering in all the Universities I applied to but I got a few questions. First of all, How much do they get paid? Second of all, the reason being for me applying for Geo Engi is that I want to work in the oil/petroleum industry, that being said, is it easy for a Geo engi to be recreuited by an oil company fast after they graduate? Also, many of my teachers say that people should be working towards the agriculture and mining fields, is it because Geo engi has a bright future? Would there be Geo Engi. demand in the future? Also, does anyone know when exactly our oil will run out? Also, do Geo Engi get to travel around the World (atleast that's what I heard) and make lots of money that way? Finally, is Geo Engi a fun job, something you would look forward everyday, regardless of pay? Thanks for your time and I hope someone answers maybe a few of these questions because I'm a prospective student. Anyways, thank You for your time.

I'm writing a test procedure in which a 440VAC is rectified to 170 VDC to supply some power amplifiers. But I need to know what the rectified DC voltages will be if the VAC varies from 440 +/- 20 volts.

I'm doing a project on silicon and transistors. I've come to the section about 3D transistors (basically using more than one gate). The question is does 3d transistor have any effect on subtreshold leakage of the transistor?

I'll give you a senario, my grandpa lives in indiana. His house is a ten minute drive to the coal plant nearby, yet he pays alot of money for his electric bill. Why might you ask. well when i checked up on the reason i made an interesting discovery. the powerplant is sending its energy, all of its energy, to Chicago, there are at least three plants i know of up there, at least one thats nuclear.

This brought my attention to the fact that all of the power plants are shipping there energy to places that are either far or, they can't ship it all. this wasts energy at a prodigal scalle, its basic Ohms people, i need to know what can be done about this that will change this waste of valuable energy and fuel.

Hi I had some questions? Could you help me
I am in the 7th grade and I do not understand. I will pick the best answer right away! Bye

On my powerbill the total kWh used this month is 222,
Days: 27, Avg KWh per Day is 8, & Avg Cost per Day is $0.87.
I needed some help doing some analysis.

To the nearest tenth of a cent, how much does 1 kWh cost?
-is that 0.087 cent?

I was trying to figure out in joules how energy i consume? Is there a formula and how do I do that?
-From my own research the answer I got was 799,200,000 J

Next, I wanted to find the average power consumption in Watts? (I am not sure what formula to use or how to go about this?

Also, the power company has noted that I am provided with 120 V? Based on the power consumption, what is the average current running in my house?

And in general, I was wondering how much would it cost me to leave all the lights on in the house for one day. I have 70 bulbs in my house that are all 75 watts?

Thanks!

Your science teacher has assigned you the task of building a water barometer. You've learned that the pressure of the atmosphere can vary by as much as 8.00 % from 1 standard atmosphere as the weather changes.

1.) What minimum height must your barometer have?

2.) The barometric pressure is a low of 29.52 inches. What is the height of the water in your barometer?
