when you want to get the work done we use either mechanical power, electrical power, hydraulic power, etc. the same way if use compressed air for the power it is called pneumatic syste.
for example, if you want to tighten or open a nut, you may use a spanner and try to use your manual power or with a pipe you try to open the nut.
in a pneumatic tool, a power spanner which is operated by the compressed air called pneumatic spanner. it is done in few second easily to save time.
the pneumatic system is used in many industries. in marine engineering, the main engine is run i on ums using pneumatic system.
there are many more applications.
