I would like to know about LASER LEDs. How we can use them from home-lighting? Where can we obtain them - in India/Bangalore? What are there benefits and disadvantages? How much do they cost?

LEDs are being used for home lighting quite a bit now. However, they have nothing to do with lasers. They're just brighter, not directional like a laser. New technology makes them a lot brighter than in the old days. You can probably find them at any home store. I saw some at Lowe's the other day. Not sure about in India. You're best bet may to be trying the internet. Light bulbs using LED lighting are actually better than regular incandescent bulbs. They're brighter, they last longer, use less energy (the EPA recommends them for this reason), and less dangerous (they operate at lower temperatures so they're won't burn if touched). Though an actual LED can't operate on household electricity, LED lightbulbs are set up to accept that kind of power. The only drawback right now would be the retail price, but you can compensate for this with energy efficiency and their long life span.

Alot of other things are converting to LED lighting. For instance, a lot of traffic lights now use LED lighting. Newer cars like cadillacs have LED tailights. Flashlights are being made with white LEDs.

There is no such thing as a LASER LED. A diode is an LED (light emitting diode) that simply emits incoherent light and covers a semi wide area or LASER diode that covers a very narrow area with coherent light. You probably want a plain LED but you'll need quite a few to replace a light bulb. The brightest ones are about as dim as a dim flashlight and cover just about as much area. You will also need to design a power supply for them. They do not work on wall current. They are pretty impractical for home lighting.
