Designing a RC beam?

Question

am having problems with calculating the load transferred from a two way spanning slab to the beams surrounding it. how are the loads transferred from the trapezoidal section and the triangular section to the beams?Are there any specific formulas?

i used to calculate the total load in KN and then divide it by the span of the beam to obtain the dead load in kN/m. But that is an underestimate!
What is the appropriate method for that?
