no i am not filling up my car if i get $5.00 it will got fast till it gets on about 4.50 than takes 100 times longer to get the last .50 cents in why can it not just stop at 5.00 dollars it is like they want you to get pissed of so you will lose some money on gas

i am pretty sure of my guess. when people pay for gas, usually it is to fill up their car. if your car is full, the last 50 cents is basically topping it off..and coming up the funnel area to your gas cap, if it is full power, then it would probably squirt out. The gas has to displace the air, and it would be way too fast for the amount of air that has to escape, causing it to spurt out your tank. try filling up a 2 liter bottle with water..you will notice that the last seconds you have to turn the water faucet down, in order to top off the bottle. same effect...if you dont..it will spurt out the top and spray all over the area you are in...hope that helps you

It is simply to accurately dispense the correct amount. By slowing down it is less likely the pump will either over/under dispense when the dollar amount signals a pump to shut off.

By slowing down the pump rate, it makes it easier for the automatic controls to dispense a quantity down to the penny and shut off. If the pump was running at full speed this would be harder to do. T
