i have installed a 800VA inverter which works for aprox. 8 hours after that it shuts down as it battery get discharged, if we can run electrical appliances on a inverter can't we charge a battery online on it

No. There is the factor of efficiency. If an inverter is 75% efficient, you loose 25% of the power available. Otherwise you would have invented perpetual motion!

And where is this inverter getting its energy? From the battery? Since the inverter and the charger both waste some energy as heat, you'd be better off connecting the battery to itself - which it already is, of course. So no, that won't work, it will just run the battery down.
