Can schedule 40 pvc pipe hold 50psi of air without blowing up? I have a project at school to make an air cannon and we have to use a bike pump to pressurize the cannon with 50psi of air. We can only spend 20$ so I was thinking that I could use schedule 40 pvc pipe to hold my air. What do you guys think?

The university that I currently attend offers Electrical and Computer Engineering and the programs are very similar except for a few different courses. I am in my sophomore year and I changed my major from computer science to EE. I was thinking I would Major in EE and minor in CS, but my advisor feels I should just major in Comp Engineering since I already have a little knowledge. However, the CE program is relatively new so it's not accredited as of yet. I really changed my major because I didn't want to limit myself to computers. But my advisor says the same jobs an EE can get a CE can get. How true is this? And what should I do major in Electrical Eng and Minor in Computer Science or should I just major in Comp. Eng.

Let's say I have two 350W permanent magnet 24V DC motors. They are both, for argument sake, identical and put out 1.2 Nm of torque each at some rated load. They are both powered by a pulse width modulator controller that is capable of delivering more than 700W. If I were to connect the two together via a chain and connect that to the rated load, would they produce (ideally) double the torque?

I happened across 10 of these 350W motors and would like to use (at least one of) them to build a go kart. If 350W doesn't suit my need for speed, instead of buying a larger motor, I would like to simply use a few more smaller ones that I already have. I understand they will use twice the power, so I'll need extra batteries, but that's not a problem as I would need those extra batteries for a larger motor anyways....thanks for your feedback and advice!!

We can build or buy a propeller that is 5 feet in diameter and that has a maximum efficiency of 93% when it is operating at an Advance Ratio of 1.35. The engine we are using to drive the propeller provides optimum torque and fuel economy when turning at a shaft speed of 3000 RPM.

Optimum aircraft airspeed (in knots) for this propeller/engine combination is 337.5 ft/sec.

Mach Number at the propeller’s tip when operating at optimum RPM and airspeed at sea level standard day conditions is 2.492.

Help Please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Find the shaft horsepower required of the engine if the total aircraft drag at the optimum condition above is 500 pounds.

I know America has already "offically" adopted SI units but will industry ever make the move. Have any sectors of industry moved yet?

that can automatically close and lock all of the doors in the school the minute a large enough piece of metal like a gun can be detected, with signals being sent to all rooms in the building, and to the security police of the institution involved.

We now have companies that have similar devices to detect explosives and can detect the gun powder in the guns shells and these devises should be used in conjunction with the metal detectors!

The difference between scientists and engineers is the scientists make the discoveries, but the engineers make them work.

I asked this question before and only one person answered. Her answer was very good, but I would like some other opinions. Okay here's the question:

I want to build an animal robot...I'm thinking of making a grizzly bear-the same size, not someting that fits in your hand . It's farfetched, I know, but is there a way to make it? Who should I get in touch with? Websites? Parts? Sound? Skin/fur/teeth/claws? Where do you think I can find all of that?

Also, I live in Va, so it's not like it's Hollywood where I can walk down the street and go to the nearest special effects artist.
