There is a lot of truth in that statement. That is my view of engineers vs scientists (I just answered a question earlier this morning on just that subject).
I have personally taken thoughts (MATLAB equations, etc.) from PhD scientists, who couldn't use Ohms law to design their way out of a paper bag, and turned them into reality.
While pure "engineers" hold a lot of patents, so to PhD scientists (to respond to an answerer, above).

Now a days the line between scientists and engineers has become less distinct. The scientist to register his discovery has to show it works and to do that he has to become an engineer. Besides now discoveries are made by scientists who work as engineers. So, I wudnt agree with the saying

Well in the context of chemical engineering and the pharmaceutical business.
The chemists or scientists if you like discover or make the compound e.g. asprin in a very small scale. i.e. in a lab
However, a chemical engineer is required if the company wants to make it on a commerical scale, as there are numerous of scale up issues. e.g. you can't heat a massive test tube with a massive bunsen burner. The liquid at the bottom would get most of the heat, boil, evaporate and the test tube would overflow or explode!!.....
So you could say its true in general, but there are probably exceptions.

Scientists think and design. Engineers build machines. Us little people run the machines and teach the engineers and scientists how to drive and run their own machines. They cannot run them or drive because they have the higher learning and no concept of reality. They have lost their logic. We need them. And it doesn't mean they are bad people.

By no means. Engineers probably hold more patents for new ideas than scientists. Just look at edison. He was basically an engineer.

Well imo scientists figure things out does researches, invent and so on.engineers are more doing things makeing them work not just in theory.they engineer buildings, things, cars and so on.

somewhat, i think that the scientists make them work too, for it to truely be a discovery, they have to know that it works. you know?

This question does not even need investigation. Keep in mind this is a saying, it only covers the general consensus. I would have to say FALSE.
