Hi ~ I'm just starting to learn electronics. The book that came with my 300 in 1 kit says that, when looking at the flat side of a transistor, the legs are emitter, COLLECTOR, base from left to right, but every other website and starter guide shows them as emitter BASE collector. The circuits in the 300 in 1 seem designed to work based on the ecb configuration. I'm kinda confused. These transistorsistors are PNP and NPN if that makes any difference. Thanks for your help

I was walking through the bush recently and I noticed that there were cable towers separated by a valley. How would they get the cable between the towers when there is a cliff on either side?

I'm trying to make XOR sign. Any ideas? Is there some other simple software that will allow me to do this? I don't want to install an entire CAD application, though.

I'm trying to find a store in my area that I can buy a 5x to 10x handheld magnifying glass. I need it for work. I do detail machining on aircraft parts. It strains my eyes when I don't have one. I have a Loupe, which is an eyepiece, that magnifies 10x but sometimes I can't get close enough to what I'm trying to see to even try to use it. I couldn't find one online at Walmart and don't want to waste my time and gas going in there for no reason. Help Please!

The buildings' structural integrety was dependent on the outer perimeter which in turn was dependent on floors bolted to the inner core preventing the outer perimeter walls from buckling out.

What also shocked me is that there were only 3 stair ways (wells) that were standard in size! NOT built for evacuations.

Recently my girlfriend's dad asked me if it was possible to make a fire powered boat. What he suggested was that a fire be made on a (thick) plank of balsa wood. The fire would be then incased around a chimney (with an air opening obviously).
The chimney's hole would then not be directed upwards but rather sidewards.

I am aware that it is fire on wood, but if the surface is properly treated there would be little issue of burning damage. I am more concerned about whether is is possible to create thrust using just the sidewards re-directed updraft from a fire and not using any steam engine etc whatsoever.

Does anyone also have any other simple ideas on how to make a fire powered boat? ie: not a steam engine, rocket motor, combustion engine, etc.

Thanks
H

I live in a house that I purchased a year ago. This is a endunit townhome with a basement 1st and 2nd floor. It is rectangular. It was built in 1974. I noticed in the basement ceiling there are Steel I beams that run perpendicular to the floor joist. They are underneath the floor joist and are embedded in the cinderblock on each wall. There is one located in the back of the house. One located in the center of the house. However the rest of the house has no more I beams. It would make sense I guess to continue to support the remaining structure with I beams. So I think maybe the builder forgot one.... I'm thinking this because my 2nd floor hallway all the way to my bathroom is not level. The bathroom floor is kind of off level on the 2nd level as well. I'm thinking a frame problem. Anybody have any ideas if I'm in the right thinking......
