I also have a half sister on my moms side. But I look nothing like her. My other question would be if first cousins are about as equally related as a half sibing?

I look like my first cousins on my dads side. Their dads and my dad are brothers. I heard this is because we share the same blood through our paternal grandfather. You get your blood from your father, and his blood came from his father, etc....the man passes his blood on to his offspring etc....on the other hand your cousins on your moms side dont share this in common with you. is there validity to this? I thought this was interesting topic.
Just curious!

I was taught that if two parents both have blue eyes then they cannot reproduce a child with brown eyes however two people with brown eyes can have a child with blue eyes. If one parent has only brown genes (meaning all their ancestors had brown eyes) and the other parent has blue eyes, then the child will have brown eyes. Is this not true?

Are there certain parts of the country where they are more common, or are they found everywhere? I live in the Chicago area, and I've never known them to be around here, but someone else was saying that they are bothered by them all the time. I had heard of them in downstate Illinois previously, but never up here.
