Tears production is an involuntary action. We can't control our tear ducts. So someone in a coma could even cry if they got something irritating in their eye. If Steven Hawking needs to cry he just gets his computer to do the sobbing for him.

Of course he can. Just because he is in a wheelchair doesn't mean he doesn't have feelings and wishing that he was normal like us.

I had a fair amoun tof interaction with a man who had Lou Gherrigs (Sp?) disease and he was able to cry. Not sure about S.H.
