Well, MYTHBUSTERS did a show where one of them had his whole body painted and after quite a short time, he started to experience very adverse effects, so apparently it is very bad for you.

They didn't want to kill him, so they stopped as soon as his body became distressed so they couldn't say for sure if he would have died but they were all surprised by how quickly he felt ill.

No, you would not suffucate if you painted your body. Your body doesn't take enough oxygen through your pores for that ti happen. Although, if you were to paint yourself, you run the risk of becoming too hot and dehydrating yourself. When you paint over your body like that, you are keeping all the heat that usually gets out, in. So if you ddo decide to do this, I would make sure that you have a well ventailated area you can get to quickly.

There's actually some theory to that, although suffocation wouldn't be the actual problem, because pores only figuratively "breathe," not literally.
On the web site www.photo.net where they give tips to photographers who want to shoot painted bodies, they say,
"Allegedly, a person will die if his skin is completedly unable to breathe. However, a spot the size of a quarter left unpainted in the small of his back is allegedly enough to prevent this undesirable event in the photo studio."

No. As long as a person can breathe through his mouth and/or nose, he will not die of asphyxiation, no matter how much of his body is covered with paint (or any other substance). This isn't to say that painting yourself isn't unsafe, however -- clogging all your pores prevents you from perspiring and could eventually cause you to die from overheating, and toxic substances found in paint could contribute to your demise if you stay in a painted state too long.

No you would not suffocate.
Your skin would certainly have problems depending upon how long the paint was left on, what type of paint and any allergies that you might have.
Further, I would think that you would have problems regulating body temperature.

Yes.You need at least a small patch un-painted....like the girl in the old James Bond movie,Goldfinger....I think ! Anyway,in some movie or other,a girl was painted golden, but they had to leave a small area un-painted or she would have suffocated

NO you wouldn't die - unless the paint contained a toxic chemical. The rate of absorbtion through your skin is quite alarming. This is the basic principle behind nicotine patches, etc.., But I think you are wondering about the cells not getting oxygen. Your cells use your blood to get their oxygen. For example, a scuba diver can stay under water for hours, if your cells needed air from its environment, there would be no scuba divers.

Watch the movie goldfinger - (james bond movie) - in it a girl gets painted with gold and dies due to what your question is.

Answer is - no, you breathe through your mouth and nose, not your pores, if you mouth and nose were sealed shut in addition to the painting then yes, you would die. otherwise, enjoy the painting......
