I was watching a movie recently (the title is slipping my mind) and there was a scene with a business jet that was climbing vertically. I made the comment that it was impossible for a consumer level jet to perform such a task due to their low thrust to weight ratio, and the lack of rigidity of their airframe. I'm fairly confident that a business jet can't produce enough power to overcome its own lift and the force of gravity, and even if it could, its airframe would suffer catastrophic failure. I then furthered my argument by stating that some jets are able to CLIMB vertically, but to my knowledge there is only one jet that can ACCELERATE vertically: the F-16, due to its thrust-to-weight ratio greater than the value 1. Am I correct in every aspect of my knowledge? Can business jets CLIMB vertically? Can business jets ACCELERATE vertically? Are there other jets besides the F-16 that can ACCELERATE straight vertically? Easy 5 stars.... Thanks for the help!!!

But I do not know how to use it to tell the time. How do I do it? Thanks

Ok so I see this red non twinkling star in the sky here in Australia and it is low so I get my telescope out because I know it is a planet (Mars I am assuming) I put in the Barlow and the K20 eyepiece and it still looked the same size as I could see with the naked eye. I put in the SR4 eyepiece on its own and it looked the same and then did the Barlow with that one and couldn't see anything. Shouldn't I be able to get a closer view? I have the Celestron Power 127mm .

No, I am not a Werewolf. It's uncanny how it affects me. Feel all sleepless. Is this a similar phenomina to the tidal pull due to mass and volume that one spacial body has on another. Is the moon pulling on the juices/water in me? Ha! Really, why is this? Must be a basis in fact on this.

Has anyone heard or know of the fact that apparently, there is a compound not found on earth, that can be processed to become a sort of non lethal fuel. It can be burned or used without polluting.
China has become aware of this and they are working very hard to get to the moon ...and start mining.
I hear a spaceship full of this stuff, will provide electricity for a city the size of New York for six months.
Anybody know about this stuff and what it is called and if this is true? Sounds very Buck Rogers to me. Lemme know

Last night I stood outside of my house and watched the moon lierally moving and not moving by the hour but by the second. It moved up and then left and then I checked later and it was in the right side of the sky, being closely followed by Mars...can anyone explain this to me?

Moon On April 11th 1979, longitude 86oW 12h58pm

1 angle from greenwich at 0h
april 11th, midnight 02LI41
april 12th, midnight 15LI05

A - Get the difference between these two days
(15-2)o + (5-41)'' = 13o - 36''
= 12o24
= 12o + 24'' *1o/60''
= 12.4o

B - Get the offset at 12h58
12h58 = 12h + 58min * 1h/60min
= 12.96h
12.96h * 12.4o / 24h = 6.696o --> difference added to value at midnight
War time not in effect.

C - Add the offset to basic value of the day
Libra's spawn is between 270o and 300o
And starts at 270o
2Li41 = 270o + 2o41
= 272o41
272o + 41'' * 1o/60'' = 272.683o
+ 6.696
= 279.379o

2. adjustment for longitude
+86o --> earth spins from east to west
would be -86o if the longitude was 86o East
= 365.379o

3 adjustment of moon's position during that offset of time
365.379o * 1 lunar cycle / 27.32 terrestral cycles = 13,374048316251830161054172767204o
365.379o + 13.374o = 378.753o

4. Delay of light from moon to earth
1.2 seconds approx.
1.2s * 1h/3600s = 0.0002777....h
0.00027h * 15o/h on earth = 0.004166...o
378.753o + 0.004o = 378.757o
Nearly negligible

5 angle translated to sign
378.753o > 360o
Therefore the cycle is completed once
378.757o - 1cycle * 360o/cycle = 18.757o

6 Spawn of capricorn 0o to 30o

Hence 18.753o means 18.757o capricorn
Or
18o + 0.757'' * 1o/60'' = 18o45 capricorn

The Moon hits earth with a 18CP45 angle type
at longitude 86o, 12h58pm
